I recall someone was doing an article and interviewed a number of old “champs” she mentioned to one, you all are so quite and gentle, he replied, we got all the mean beat out of us.

Unless it’s psycho pooch.

Pits have been bred for aggressiveness and fighting ability. They are not psycho but just a plain damn dangerous bred!

All your rebuttals are lame. I don’t know where I would start untangling that mess and I don’t see why I should bother. Waste of my time to help you understand that comparing the societal value and contributions made by veterans and mothers to those of a specific type dog statistically prone to violence is ridiculously offensive.

Good point. After reading hours and hours of documented maimings/killings caused by these dogs, I read a comment on an article that made the point defenders of these beasts comb through accounts of maulings and pick out the smallest detail and then pin the whole thing on that error (e.g., if she hadn’t dropped her handbag, she’d of grabbed the gate in time and her dog wouldn’t have gotten out and killed the neighbors kid playing next door.) It’s like pulling a pin on a grenade and tossing it into a crowed, watching people shove it away from themselves and when it explodes, blaming the person who didn’t shove it away from themselves in time.
There’s a cable program that features ex cons rehabbing abused pit bulls. Now we know that the prime excuse the pro pit lobby makes for killings/maimings is that the dog was abused. So then they get those abused dogs and “rehab” them and place them back in homes??????
On that program, it featured a man adopting one such abused pit. The “pit expert” said the new owner would like to ride his bike with his dog trotting leashed alongside. WELLLLLL now....once can’t just do that with very carefully testing to see if the “dog has such a strong prey drive that he will attack” the person on the bike. So the expert has a special device crafted and bolted to the frame of the bike and then she gingerly pedals around (or he will attack her) with him attached to the device on the bike. I’m watching that thinking “Heaven help others (children?) who might pedal by without considering the extreme, life-threatening danger of daring to ride a bike in this dog’s presence.”

Just more proof that pit bull owners know EXACTLY what these animals are really like.

I’m not surprised a dog could kill an infant. I’d be surprised by people who didn’t know that. Infants are exquisitely fragile.

I’m surprised you have the nerve to compare a statistically rare (freakishly so) story about a Labrador retriever to a statistically dangerous type of dog:
“In 2016, pit bulls accounted for 71% of all deaths, just over 7 times more than the next closest dog breed.”

In 2016, family dogs inflicted 45% of all dog bite fatalities. Family pit bulls accounted for 86% of these deaths.

In 2016, 42%, of all dog bite fatality victims were either visiting or living temporarily with the dog’s owner when the fatal attack occurred

In the 12-year period of 2005 to 2016, pit bulls mauled to death 254 Americans, about one citizen every 17 days.

“A person can convey the idea they are submissive by getting down on the floor with the dog, encouraging dominant behavior from the dog, or laying on their back in its presence, etc.”

See, that’s where you and I are different. I believe a domesticated pet should not kill a person for getting down on the floor or laying on their back in its presence. If this type of dog requires the specialized focus and training of an exotics animal expert, and the escape proof enclosures used to protect the public from it, then it is not a pet and it belongs in a zoo.

The problem is that pit bulls were specifically bred to select for fighting and their instincts kick in. Pit ownders keep trying to kid themselves that they can master animal instinct and that’s why these dogs get away with murder.

What is it about articles detailing the latest bloody pit bull-slays-owner occurrence that brings out pitt apologists’ desire to load their posts with chaff?

Yup. Another 6 week old infant killed by dog story featured because it is unusual and it’s important that people understand even an unlikely-to-kill breed can harm a very delicate infant.

There is more to this story than we are seeing.

Well yes. I read the OP and the owner loved the dog very much so she ignored it’s previous vicious behavior (including biting her grandson’s face) because everyone kept telling her not to believe the (documented) stories about pitt bull fatalities and she was fatally more loyal to it than it was to her.

So you had to search back 6 years find a story about an extremely abused lab killing it’s owner Thailand, when there’s plenty of weekly maulings and killings going on right now by pitt bulls in our own country, state, and neighborhoods, most of which lack “abuse” evidence because pitt bull owners secretly know they have a dangerous dog and they don’t want it to hate them? The ones that do abuse their pitt bulls keep them chained (yet another layer of abuse) with tow chains and toss meat at them because of their fear (guilt).

We know a dog as small as a daschund can kill a fragile infant. What people don’t realize is that pitt bulls kill more adults in their prime than they do children, infants, elderly. Think about that for a moment.

I was waiting for you to make this thread about you, your dog etc. That’s your signature move. I wonder how many pictures I’d find of your dog if I searched your user account. It’s weird, reading an OP about another horrific killing by a pitt bull brings out your need to fawn over your doberman.

Yes. And then maybe you could exchange pie recipes and the latest gossip and pictures of you, your motorcycle or your dog....on a thread about a gory, bloody pitt bull fatality. “Hey, the woman was in her 30’s, she had a good run but she must not have been a good pet owner...so...what’s your favorite drink at Starbucks?”

Garments are not the envy issue, here.
Collars are.

They all have nice collars with ID tags and such and sometimes, it seems they actually get miffed that the other dog’s collar has more ‘jingle’ than theirs does.

Odin’s collar is the one everyone wants to wear.

They have the same short coats and lack of body fat as Ibizan Hounds.

They love heat, coats and bizarrely, ‘jewelry’.

Oh but there’s tons more studies - you’re cherry picking again.
http://www.dogsbite.org/

Lots of information there and for those new to that site, there are videos and documentation on the unusual nature of the maulings/killings. Reading accounts and watching videos of pitt bull attacks will change your mind about these animals (e.g., “that’s just NOT normal attacking dog behavior”). Pitt bulls haven’t signed on to the whole “domesticated animal” agreement and so attack scenes and accounts are different than you’d expect...because we’re not used to reading accounts of urban wild animal attacks.
