But as Los Angeles–based writer Jessica Teich read the elder Dreyfuss’s tweet, she grew “bothered,” she says.
“When I read about his support for his son, which I would never question, I remember thinking, But wait a minute, this guy harassed me for months,” Teich told me in an interview.
“He was in a position of so much power over me, and I didn’t feel I could tell anyone about it. It just seemed so hypocritical.”
She began drafting a Facebook post that she shared with her friends, one of whom is a New York staff member, who gave Teich my number.
The harassment, Teich says, was constant over a two- to three-year period in the mid-1980s when she worked as a researcher and junior writer on a TV passion-project of Dreyfuss’s —
Teich says Dreyfuss asked her to meet him in his trailer on the Los Angeles studio lot of a movie he was starring in at the time. As with all her script meetings with Dreyfuss, this one was set up by his female secretary.
“I remember walking up the steps into the trailer and turning towards my left,” says Teich, “and he was at the back of the trailer, and just — his penis was out, and he sort of tried to draw me close to it.”

It’s probably for the best that most FReepers don’t really have the capacity to grasp why Richard Dreyfuss didn’t say or do anything to stop it, and why Kevin Spacey thought it was perfectly fine to grope his son in front of him. The vast majority of replies on this thread will think Dreyfuss is just a liberal wimp but if anyone ever gets right down to it, I’d say the likelihood is very high that he did not disapprove.

Just as before in April, you don’t write a pleasant “Freeper-to-Freeper” post that would be written from one person to another and well received, something like: Wow did you see this about Dreyfuss. He is a scumbag, etc...
Nope, like before, you are aggressive, and your attack has nothing to do with what I posted before. You come at me from something I wrote months ago because I thought Dreyfus had something worthwhile to say about the Constitution and free speech—wanted it taught, etc. and you disagreed with me...His personal behavior had nothing to do with that thread or my or your posts. Is this how you communicate with people?
Listen, crazy, I never was “proud” of Dreyfuss—so as in April, you are still trying to putting words in my mouth. No one knew waaay back in April that Dreyfuss had these other issues, and how dare you try to infer that I was or am defending his personal behavior. No one knew—not you, not me, only the people involved. So obviously, I was not or am not defending his personal behavior. That said,
1. His behavior was not and is not exclusive to Hollywood or democrats.
2. His sexual harassment does not affect fact that he wants Constitution taught in schools, and I still think that is good idea because quite obviously it is not being taught.
3. His push for Constitutional literacy will be lost due to his bad behavior...That is unfortunate.

Dreyfuss was not espousing a liberal position and denounced partisan politics in lieu of Constitution and Bill of Rights. When Tucker wanted to get into politics, Dreyfuss refused...You listened twice, so clearly you should know that. I also told you that Dreyfuss went to Iowa to see Ted Cruz during the campaign—no doubt because of their mutual interest in the Constitution. No liberal would be caught dead doing that. He may not be a fan of Trump’s agenda, but I don’t believe Dreyfuss was disguising his hate by starting his Constitution crusade 5 years ago...Again, you would make more sense if you would research...
2. If you had bothered to research, you would not be posting tripe like: ...if he was serious about his SUDDEN LOVE for the Constitution and not being partisan, he would go on the View! Again, I don’t know if he was on the View, your Holy Grail, and I am not going to take any more time to research it—I did find numerous shows he was on that are liberal and listed them for you...but you did not want to concede.
Had you bothered to do a little research, you would see that with one YouTube search, he has been promoting the Constitution for FIVE YEARS...That is not “Sudden.”
