Mr. Leftist Reporter....he bottom line is she was not a captive, but a willing companion, and had they not “found” them I’d bet that she would still be “with” him.
Now, the argument about whether she possessed the intellectual capacity to understand is something else altogether. Certainly this man had the ability to manipulate her mind (and obviously did), and thus her capacity to “consent” was not the same as what normal adults would consider free will.
Held captive implies a lack of physical ability, as opposed to mental manipulation.
This clown is no doubt a degenerate, and should be jailed for being an all around scumbag. But this idea that she was some innocent girl flies in the face of the video from the Walmart where the two of them entered the store, looking like normal customers, not one on the lam and the other a prisoner. There is a certain comfort level/familiarity that cannot be faked. She was a willing participant.
