Unfortunately when you’ve got multiple generations that feel defeated getting hope in there is tough. Even if you give them a path you still have to get them to see it as a path that can work not just another hollow gesture from a society that’s OK with them being on the outside. Toughest of all societal nuts to crack, and so far nobody has really gotten good at it.
They aren't kidding. The first scene is the assassination of Walther Rathenau. The second is Einstein with his pants down banging his assistant in his office.
It wasn't so much the portrayal of Einstein that was offensive, it was the vulgarity. They could have shown Einstein's faults in a more tasteful way. It was like they were trying to make him look ugly and ridiculous.
I didn't get beyond the first few minutes. When a show starts out that way, does it really get any better?
FWIW: they played up Rathenau's Jewishness. He was Jewish and that was the major reason why and how he was killed, but I'm not sure that he was religious or strongly identified himself with the Jewish community.
I seem to recall that in a letter, Einstein told his wife-to-be that she shouldn’t expect fidelity. She married him anyway, so...
