This United case has opened a Pandora’s box. An airline should be able to enforce order on its flights. The airline can’t go too far and beat someone up, but if someone is creating a disruption, they should be asked to leave and if they don’t, they should be forced off the plane if necessary. After about 5 minutes of this nonsense, security should have dragged this guy off the plane.

I’m Jewish. I am reasonably observant, but have not always been so. I find this to be incredibly embarrassing.

Everyone has the right to practice their religion, and to raise their children the way that they see fit (short of harming them). This guy doesn’t want his kids to watch TV? OK, that’s his choice - but he has NO right to force that choice on other people, and NO right to delay/inconvenience them and to cost the airline money in the process.

If I were this airline, I would: a) ban this guy and his family from flying again; and b) make sure that every passenger automatically (by buying a ticket) waives the right to dictate how ANYTHING on the plane is operated. You don’t like it, you then forfeit your seat, no refund unless there is someone else ready to take your seat for the same price.

Enough of this “I’m special, everyone has to conform to MY wishes” crap - and I don’t care what religion someone is, or even if they worship G-d or not: no special cases. We are all human, and all deserving of the same rights and courtesies.
