There were numerous reports from those on the scene that Berkeley police largely stayed back as Antifa agitators took pot shots at Donald Trump supporters on Saturday.
“As the violence escalated police in Berkeley stood down and retreated from the crowds,” reporter Tim Pool tweeted.
I have never seen so few police at an event like this.”
One observer claimed police “ran away,” despite several Trump rally attendees being attacked.

The person posting the video, presumably the person asking the question, is a reporter for Leftist mag MotherJones.
My suspicion is that he was upset at cops not being there to arrest Trump supporters who dared to hit back when assaulted by the Antifa goons.

One of the local “protesters” said they were defending Bezerkelys claim to fame as the birthplace of protests to protect our freedoms and blamed the Trump ‘gang’ for coming to town looking for a fight. No mention of all the black masked youts taking cheap shots and the fireworks they were tossing and the pepper spray they had in hand and used.
The local Bay Area media sometimes acts like they wish they could smash some windows and sucker punch veterans too..

I saw the film and I believe these men want to tell the truth but cannot for fear of their job security.
I really believe this is the police chief and mayor telling them,let those conservatives get beat up.
That was also true in San Jose a year ago, in which Trump supporters were deliberately routed into an ambush.
I think most of the cops are victims here, too, and I am no cop lover.
The berkeley cops are commanded by the mayor who is decidedly anti-Trump.
Remember, this is that “THIN BLUE LINE” that stands between honest, law abiding citizens and anarchy......so long as their paycheck and/or pension will not be effected.

So, today we learn that not only don’t cops have a legal responsibility to protect individual citizens, they don’t even have a legal responsibility to protect public order or the general public at large.
That was proven *IN COURT* after the Crown Heights riots of 1991 in NYC. Suit was brought against NYPD for not responding to 911 calls about roving bands of blacks attacking occupied homes of Jews or whites thought to be Jews. Guess who won?
