Theres no tying. Theres no tying in baseball.
The most famous tie in major league history the 2002 All-Star Game was so infuriating and embarrassing to then-commissioner Bud Selig that it led to the Mid-Summer Classic determining home-field advantage.
We like resolution. We like tradition. I get it. Yet, I think the major leagues should allow ties if a game remains deadlocked after 12 innings.
I know that will anger folks who dont want major alterations made to a game that they find close to ideal as is. But the reality is we have a pro-active commissioner, and improving the view-ability of the product and lowering injuries are his obsessions.

This messes with the fundamental structure of the game.
The argument is that nobody wants to watch 18-inning games. But no baseball fan I know objects to doing it.
Baseball should be timed like football. LOL
There is no tying in baseball just like their is no crying in baseball
Joel must be running out of ideas.
stop fixing baseball. some people won’t be happy until it’s the ridiculous spectacle the the nfl has become.

Everyone gets a trophy?

Here is another problem.
Say, for purposes of argument, that the Nationals go 95-67, while the Mets go 94-66-2. Who’s the division champion? How do the ties affect it?
Any sports league with ties would have rules for a tiebreaker. In the case of the Nationals and the Mets, the tiebreaker would be either wins (I think that’s the way the NHL used to do it) or their records against each other.
well, given the fact that it’s the nl east, I’m not sure anyone will care ;)
I kid. I kid.
I agree, no, no, no. Problem is I can see the MLBPA being all for this.

Let me see...we are supposed to care what this person thinks. Why?
He’s one of America’s best-known baseball writers and an analyst for MLB Network.
NEVER!

Really there should be no winners or losers either. Aren’t we all winners, really. All baseball players should get a game ball and a snack bar ticket at the end of every game.
LEAVE THE GAME ALONE before you ruin it. If you want to screw up a game, screw up football.
Hillary voters would tell you that the winner should be the team that got the most hits.
And for all that is holy don’t even think of bringing shootouts to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Baseball is played in a park, a baseball park.
Football is played in a stadium, a war memorial stadium.
