The idling presence of anti-submarine military crafts hovering off the United States' West Coast has prompted concerns of a possible threat to national security.
Concerns have circulated that a foreign submarine from North Korea or Russia could be the reason for the unusual military activity off the coast of California.
Three low-lying military aircraft were reportedly seen in the area using flight-tracking software, despite it not being a normal area of surveillance.

The sub guys are zombies. The rest of the Navy is “normal”.
Yes, most likely a training/interoperability exercise.
That dress uniform wearing by the Russian crew is a horrible distraction to a pretty good movie - and them you have the Americans in work uniforms. The dirtiest ship I was ever on was a South Korean destroyer that slaughtered live chickens in the galley - feathers everywhere and the crew seemed drunk at breakfast.
Yup:
I used to work for an ex-submariner and he was certifiable. I (we) used to laugh at him until he pulled me into his office and told me to fly over the Russia/Georgia border and take pictures. I don’t own an airplane!
Tin can sailors are freakishly weird too. And they stay that way all their lives 8-)
The uniform thing ruined the movie for me. I couldn’t get past that huge mistake. Dress uniforms cost a lot of money and officers pay for them themselves. NO WAY do you wear that underway unless you are having a burial at sea. In port for special occasions, maybe.

Like ‘they’ say, unless you have walked a mile in my/our shoes, please do not blanket judge us.
I used to say I knew I was sane because I passed the Military Aptitude tests for certain ‘duties’, Submarine duty included.
However, as I got older, the realization set in that the test was really designed to see if one were CRAZY enough to willingly sink and live in an iron tube, jump from perfectly good aircraft, swim miles with full packs etc etc etc.
So, I now consider myself DOUBLE NUTZ as I not only volunteered for Submarines, I can/could also copy Morse Code at speeds of 50WPM plus....
I crossed trained on an attack sub for 4 weeks. Not once did I engage in a person conversation with any of the crew except the CO with whom I got along great.
Earlier launch of missile launch from Chinese sub off California coast.

Danger close to the Queen Mary ?
Okay. You win. Good one. LOL.
North Korea doesn't have a sub with the range to get from North Korea to California and back.
Next berth over...:^)
I doubt a NK sub could go past Japan without a tow line
I agree, the participation of the RCAF Aurora might indicate an exercise. Then again, we don’t really know.
It is not going home. One way trip
