FWIW, they will turn full speed into a torp or missle spread when they know they will be hit.

They will turn to take advantage of the wind for take-off. If they need to launch an emergency alert patrol they could make this turn.

Many reasons to make hard port or hard starboard.

They’re based in San Diego. They were set for a trip to Australia (don’t know purpose); their orders were changed to take the carrier group (includes destroyers and another ship with Tomahawks - not sure of it’s designation) and head for Korea.

News assumptions are that this is just a show of force; a protection of South Korea, and what else we have not been told. This President does tell it’s enemies what we plan to do .. thank goodness.

Rush indicated that China approved of our actions.

Where this will lead, have no idea. I’m just glad to know that none of the NK missiles have ever reached the west coast of America.

15 degree heel, full speed, full rudder.
Wow, that has to be quite the experience in the open water.

LOL, I watched that video, and...I don’t think I would have enjoyed standing in the hangar bay after seeing that plate caddy go flying across the compartment I was in.

Having spent a lot of time working in the hangar bay too, all I could imagine was a jet engine on a stand that broke free and went careening across that hanger bay, mowing people down and crushing them against the far bulkhead.

It was funny, after all these years, I felt uneasy watching that video with all those people in the hangar bay!

Bummeer, I was typing too fast.

Correction: This President DOESN’T tell it’s enemies what we plan to do.

Thanks for the stories.
Both experiences sound insane.
Especially having ZERO airflow.

That is one of the reasons I supported him.
Element of surprise can make all the difference and save lives.

“Official top speed is “30+” knots. The plus is classified”
Now that is impressive. Without the plus.

The POD will tell the guys what events are going to be happening- who reads that though? I was hole snipe on a guided missile can (DDG-7) so we were well aware when high speed runs were planned and it usually involved turns so make sure the tool boxes are tied down tight or you might get hurt!

In an emergency, even an aircraft carrier may have to make a sharp turn in order to avoid a collision, an incoming missile or torpedo, or to prevent running aground.
