The biggest catch, so far, went to Patrick Campbell who caught a python measuring 15 feet, 10 inches and weighing 135 pounds, according to the South Florida Water Management District. The second largest catch was made by Nicholas Banos and trapping partner Leonardo Sanchez whose python measured 15 feet, 2 inches and weighed 144 pounds.... Twenty five people are taking part in the python hunt that began in late March and runs until June. They are paid $8.10 per hour, for up to eight hours a day, and get extra money depending on the length of the snake thats caught.

The state should put a year round bounty of $50-$100 on these things until they are eradicated.......................

This needs to run year round. FWS and SFWMD want to “manage” the snakes rather than eradicate them.

And come up with a good recipe for cooking them. Heck, people will eat just about anything if it is cooked properly. Louisianans are especially fond of swamp critters and they do a pretty decent job of cooking them, too. :)
And I bet the skins make pretty good boots and purses too.

Absolutely, a big enough bounty, instead of hourly pay and a 'hunting season', would knock this problem out in a few years IMO

Yp, I’ve got a python purse and wallet. I use the wallet every day and it still looks new. Python wears like steel.

Illegal aliens. Pythons say they are delicious.

I did in fact touch one, like the one on the right!!
To show my kids how tough I was! It was huge, 20 feet?
The Brookfield Childrens Zoo.
Held by about FIFTEEN HANDLERS!
I REACHED OVER AND PETTED IT!
It felt just like the python wallet I had.
The kids thought it was fun to pet.
