Seems like a boring news day,What's Your Favorite One-hit Wonder Song?
Groovy, baby!
Hooty Sapperticker--Barbara & the Boys (1958)
I can help.
“A one-hit wonder in LA—and probably no where else—from July, 1964
La La La La La—The Blendells”
==
Good song, though. I suppose every region had it’s share of local 1 hit wonders. Some made to national level one hit wonder status - e.g. in my neck of the woods the Trashmen had a huge hit with “Surfin Bird” - but nothing much after that - of course, the Beatles came along and took all the air outta the room right about then, too.

The melody ought to be familiar to anyone who listened to pop music in 1955.
The Ballad of Pancho López--Lalo Guerrero (1955)
They call Me “Skid Mark!”
I’m a Driver at Brown Circle Raceway!
Groups like the Blendells and the Premiers could buck the tide of Beatlemania because they had a following in places like East LA—and in the suburbs like the one in which I grew up.
“Purple People Eater” ?
Don’t forget David Soul.
Playing songs from Molly Hatchet and Bad Company and soo many more on my 8 track player was everything.
Owned a “Foghat”, I forgave the “Golden Earring” in order to “Triumph” over the “Foreigners” from “Boston” to “Kansas”.
Maybe I’m just a “Simple man”, “Out on the Weekend” ?
Reluctant to “Turn the Page”
As a kid in Hawaii we used the tune for the music in catechism and had guitar accompaniment.
Later a soul group, Taste of Honey ( I think) used other lyrics as well and won a Grammy. I also think they had another song that was better for them to be known by.
Clint Eastwood sung too;)
Clint Eastwood. “I Talk To the Trees”

Eastwood’s actually been singing about as long as he’s been acting. He’s got a reasonably nice singing voice.

Clint Eastwood, “Are you satisfied?” from the album “Rawhide’s Clint Eastwood Sings Cowboy Favorites”
Mexican Radio.
I love hearing that when at the Border

“As a kid in Hawaii we used the tune for the music in catechism and had guitar accompaniment.”

As in the Catholic or other religious catechism? How would it be used? I don’t know much about catechism stuff other than recited creeds and the Q & A thing.
