Seems like a boring news day,What's Your Favorite One-hit Wonder Song?
The Amboy Dukes-Ted Nugent’s band!
I sat with my Father, who was career Army and retired as a Lt. Col. with only an eighth grade education after 24 years of service from 1940 - 1964/65.
He served in the the Pacific in WWII, in Korea from July 1950 through early April 1952, and helped with logistics in the first years of the Vietnam Conflict.
I watched and felt through my hands his life and soul leave his earthly body. Afterwards I sat on the lawn of the hospital with Arlington National Cemetery visible in the distance. I sat and stared at Arlington for hours at 2 AM in the morning and I new we would say our final good bye there in a few weeks.
It was a rough time in American history and I wish things could have been better between us. In retrospect I’m sure its all good now when we meet again.

Sad how many FReepers don’t know what a one-hit wonder is. Aha had several hits. Including a theme song for a James Bond movie.
But don’t feel bad. You weren’t alone. Somebody also mentioned Falco and Eric Clapton.
I believe Clapton is in the Rock & Roll hall of fame three times. Hilarious.
Afroman - Because I Got High

The First Edition-I Just Dropped In (To See What My Condition Was In) w/Kenny Rogers

I love that song!!
good questions about charting.
That’s why I include Frankie Lyman and The Teenagers.
They didn’t do squat after “Why Do Fools Fall in Love”
Here is the Heartbeats - Thousand Miles Away
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIqqWC_1bkQ
charted at about 50 something.
The lead singer James Shep Shepard leaves the Heartbeats and starts:
Shep & The Limelites - Daddy’s Home
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIGla91-qmk
charted 2.
each is a 1 hit wonder though it’s the lead singer that makes these a go.
Oops! (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)
Aw, if I’d read the whole thread I could have saved a lot of time typing! :)
Eric Clapton is in the RR Hall of Fame three times. Not exactly the poster child for one hit wonders.
There isn’t, afaik, an ironclad definition of a one hit wonder. I looked at a couple of prominent lists, and A-Ha/Take on Me was cited.
Here’s one:
WILD thang! It came out in one of my favorite summers as a teen.
Did you check out the video of the very young, mod, Ted?
Gack! How about "These Boots Are Made for Walkin' by Nancy Sinatra...
If these two hadn't had famous fathers, neither one would've gotten even ONE hit.
But if I have to give a true one hit wonder from my youth that always brought a smile to my face it would be Mongo Jerry and Summer Time.

I saw them in concert in a small venue. Those were the days!
