I read that peanut butter is so hated by most of the rest of the world that once some aid organization sent crackers and peanut butter to some starving nation and the folks rejected it.

What is much worse than peanut butter is fermented soybean butter, aka natto. There are only two problems here: natto is 1000 times better for you than peanut butter (regular eating essentially ensures you will never have a stroke), and I really like peanut butter, especially when it is in its pristine state, not jarred and gummed up with corn syrup and palm oil.

First trip to Japan and a street vendor gleefully offered us natto. He pulled up a glob of it and let it ooze back into the container. He was impressed that I took a mouthful of the stuff. Don’t remember the taste, but the texture was kind of slimy. But I’ve never thought to try it again.

I'll take the stroke.
