Huckster makes a reappearance. If we can't eliminate a nonsense program like the NEA then we are doomed.

I am not looking forward to postponing retirement to age 85, just so the NEA can keep getting our money.

The NEA is an entity designed to fund the Left.

People who are deeply in debt should cut out unnecessary spending. Countries that are deeply in debt should cut out unnecessary spending.

How hard is that to understand, Mr. Huckabee?

Huckaebee is a bleeding heart. Not unusual for a minister.

Yes, so more art can be made of my God on cross with urine the center of attention. Real art will fund itself. It isn’t art when tax payers money pay to have it produced.

Huckabee is like Gingrich, both can say really insightful things at times, but you can always count on them to do or say something incredibly dumb.

Let me see, the last time theRepublicans held Congress and the White House and they eliminated none of these progressive budget babies was in 2001.

Would someone refresh my memory about the 2002 elections?

Oh yeah ... they LOST Congress!

It seems that the Democrats were able to paint the Republicans, who eliminated none of the programs Republican voters had long been saying ought to be, as “spendthrift”.

Then the Democrats showed us what REAL spending was like.

But don’t expect Republican voters to remember THAT. Nope, but do we ever have long memories when it comes to Republican failings. It’s only when Democrats remind us that sucking less is better than sucking to the max that they seem to prosper these days.

Government with $20 trillion in debt refusing to cut the NEA is like a severe diabetic declaring “but I can’t stop eating cookies. I need them.” And tomorrow it will be cake, ice cream and Rice Krispy treats that can’t be eliminated either.

Forget it Huck! The Hollyweirdos will have bleeding heart fundraisers out the wazoo and probably entertainment shows ad nauseum so they’ll get to continue crying about Trump the Scrooge. Hell, they’ll end up with more money than ever!

It’s kinda funny. Way back in the 70’s I was cognizant of the credit based economy and used to say that the US was like the proverbial farmer with his arm caught in a piece o machinery, slowly dragging him in. And the only way to keep from being drug all the way in and being killed was to cut off the arm.

But nobody with enough power has the political will to cut off the arm. It’s been a slow process, but, truh be told, it has been constantly speeding up to where it is very close. This kind of asinine argument made by the Huckster is just a sample of what we will get every time a cut is suggested.

We ARE doomed. It’s been clear for decades. But what I missed way back then is that it is not the US that is at risk. It is the entire civilized world. And we’re among those in the best shape.

The house was built on sand, and the fall of it will be great.

At least 2/3 of the article simply reads: “for the children”. LOL!

Mr. Huckabee, among others that whine about cutting funds for useless programs just because it is such a “small” amount relative to the debt, must not understand grade school math which shows 10 dimes add up to 1 dollar.

From the article....

.....I have zero interest in spending a dime of tax money to prop up those who hate the president and the tens of millions who elected him.

I do care greatly about the real recipients of endowment funds: the kids in poverty for whom NEA programs may be their only chance to learn to play an instrument, test-drive their God-given creativity and develop a passion for those things that civilize and humanize us all. They’re the reason we should stop and recognize that this line item accounting for just 0.004 percent of the federal budget is not what’s breaking the bank.

Participation in the arts leads to higher grade-point averages and SAT scores, as well as improvements in math skills and spatial reasoning........
