I thought pretty much Tom Scholz did all of the instruments and recorded it in his home studio, and basically had Brad do the vocals, and the other guys were just there to play live.
You are correct. “Boston” is Scoltz with the exception of the former lead singer.
The others were just window dressing for concerts and marketing.

I think that explains why they couldn’t match their first album. Sholz spent years working on it.
I respect Tom Scholz's technical abilities, especially in a home recording studio in the mid-'70s - but these guys gave Boston its sound.
Sometimes I think that Tom's incessant multi-track recording and other tinkering interfered with the band's development. These guys clearly had the chops to be a world-class "live" act.
