A Yazidi woman from Iraq who was held captive for months as a sex slave by ISIS spoke about her harrowing ordeal Sunday on CNN alongside her lawyer, famed human rights advocate Amal Clooney. The international human rights lawyer and the wife of actor George Clooney is trying to bring attention to the plight of Nadia Murad and other Yazidi women who are routinely abused at the hands of the militants. Clooney appeared on Fareed Zakaria's CNN show on Sunday alongside Murad, who recalled a harrowing ordeal that began when ISIS gunmen arrived in her village in Iraqi Kurdistan nearly three years ago. 'Early morning on August 3, 2014, they attacked us,' Murad said. 'Nearly 6,500 women and children from the Yazidi were abducted and about 5,000 people from the community were killed during that day. For eight months, they separated us from our mothers and our sisters and our brothers, and some of them were killed and others disappeared.'

You know, if I had the resume Amal Clooney has, I would really get tired of that little parenthetical being inserted in EVERY story about me.....
Funny, how liberals worship her, not for HER work with their liberal causes, but because of the man she's married to.....
The vast majority of Kurds follow a form of Islam. They are 100% preferred (by me) to the Turks and others that they fight. That said, they DO fight them. I also think they’ve been treated very badly by the US but still like us.
That said, I’d rather KEEP THEM THERE.
fight against ISIS and dont arm middle eastern rebels.

Somebody needs to tell that to McCain, Graham and Rubio.
Anwar al-Awlaki’s kids are just as eligible as Ted Cruz.
Born in Yemen to an American citizen.
CNN hates Christians - she should have gone to FOX...
Trump ain’t gonna prosecute any ISIS. We are just going to kill them all. Already the plan in Mosul.
The Yazidis are Christian. Big difference.
Nadia Murad is an amazing woman, and has been working tirelessly for months and months since her escape traveling all over and talking to anyone who will listen to her about the Yazidi Christians and what they’re going through. If Amal Clooney can raise her profile, by all means. Find and follow Nadia on facebook and twitter.
If they had their own nation or state in a federation, why would they want to leave?
The percentage of non-muslim in the Syrian Kurd region is much more than you think. It does vary with city or area.
I for one hope that they will have a Kurdistan someday.
As of today, it is very likely to happen.
Kurds now have a “deal” with both the US and with Russia.
Russia will defend the Western region of Rojava an the US will defend the eastern region.
A very strategic move to end Turkey’s meddling in Syria and Issue of US with Assad.
It appears to be a done deal. Now I don’t know the details, but there is active open cooperation between US and RU. No direct meetings have taken place between the two. But a couple have between the other groups. There are no documents yet but announcements have been made.
Now the heavy lifting is finishing ISIS.
I think we witnessed today the beginning of a new nation.
On the 22nd there will be a meeting in the US State Department office in DC with all members of the Global Coalition to end ISIS. Donald Trump and Rex Tillerson, mean business.
