Rock legends The Who on Monday announced a residency in Las Vegas, putting off retirement as they wind down what they called a final tour.
Caesars Palace, one of the landmarks of Sin City, said that The Who will begin playing at the hotel on July 29.
The residency will initially be only six shows, although a statement described it as a first run.

For a lot of these old rockers, performing IS their life, or at least the drive that keeps them going.
Slightly OT: Ozzy is playing at the solar eclipse in Aug., a little off to the side of it’s optimum viewing point. (”Optimum” if the weather holds.)

No, Mississippi. We were in LA off and on. Played at Filthy McNasty’s, stayed at Tropicana with Dallas Taylor of CSNY.
Got ti meet Groucho, Lou Rawls, Gabe Kaplan, Greg Allman, lots of others
See my reply above: got to meet Groucho.
Saw them last May. You might be surprised at just how great they still sound.
cheers

I watched that “first final concert” on Canadian TV. The show was hosted by a young VJ named J. D. Roberts. He’s now John Roberts of Fox News Channel.
Funny how the circle of life turns.

We were in the south grandstands, second weekend.

Bucklist level experience.
Beats wasting away in an Old Folks' Home.
True, but they still sound great, under the circumstances, and perform well.
But it’s basically a Who tribute show....nothing wrong with that, I think most of the people seeing them realize that.
Undoubtedly. That’s how I went into it, though as a lifelong Whoey I’d have gone even if they used mannequins, LOL.
cheers
Jim
