Humanitarian chief urges funds for Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, northeast Nigeria
UNITED NATIONSThe world faces the largest humanitarian crisis since the United Nations was founded in 1945, with more than 20 million people in four countries facing starvation and famine, the U.N. humanitarian chief said Friday.
Stephen OBrien told the U.N. Security Council that without collective and coordinated global efforts, people will simply starve to death and many more will suffer and die from disease.
He urged an immediate injection of funds for Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia and northeast Nigeria, plus safe and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to avert a catastrophe.
To be precise, Mr. OBrien said, we need $4.4 billion by July.
Without a major infusion of money, he said, children will be stunted by severe malnutrition and wont be able to go to school, gains in economic development will be reversed and livelihoods, futures and hope will be lost......

I thought that the UN wanted to reduce the world population.Or is it just the white population they want to reduce?
u.n.? Yawn..............Pack yer bags and turn in your credit cards.
Our judges tell us that to do otherwise would be "unconstitutional."
Oooooo....I never thought of that. You’re very probably right.
Being a pale-face has become very un-PC.
All those places must have something in common. What could it be? Hmmm...
Yeah... okay. Thanks for the info...
Keep them out.
Forever.
That settles it for me, we need to immediately MOVE the UN to Syria so they can be right on the front lines leading these massive humanitarian efforts.
There was a time when Western missionaries fulfilled the role of helping feed the world’s poor and afflicted and much of the money donated for such missionary food programs did indeed reach its intended recipients Unfortunately we now live in a different world wherein most of the regions described in this article, the afflicted would be more interested in taking the heads of the missionaries rather than the food. So the UN kleptocracy gets to steal a little off the top to deliver the butter with the necessary guns to keep the war torn recipients from killing the delivery man.
No matter how much money the UN collects, they don’t fix anything!
I believe there is a crisis, the UN cartel isn’t getting enough money.
There was no looming crisis when O was in office, I’m sure he funneled enough money to keep them appeased.
The United Nations organized crime syndicate pleading for more graft.
That’s the problem. These people create their own sh!t holes, then they expect the rest of the world to clean them up. It just amazes me how these people who claim that Islam is the “way”, want to leave Islamic countries and go to non-Islamic countries. You would think that even liberals could make this connection.
Send them all to Hollywood.
How about instilling a U.N. GUNS for FOOD program? That should take care of world hunger.
A bunch of raghead terrorist cutthroats, displaced and hungry? -
NOT OUR PROBLEM!
Let the saudis and the muzzie countries take care of their own.
According to a recent Google search, there are 65 million refugees this year. The US and Europe cannot take them all in and expect to survive. The crises must be solved at their sources. Is the UN the way to do this? I dunno, there are arguments on both sides.
