Friday, March 10, 2017, 5:55 - Parts of the Northeast are primed for significant snow threats through midweek next week as Canadian Arctic air spills south.
A clipper system is forecast to descend form the Canadian Prairies this weekend bringing light snow to the Upper Midwest.
As the low interacts with the sub-tropical moisture in the Southeast, it will begin to significantly intensify Monday and Tuesday.
Early models indicate areas north of Virginia could see the highest snowfall accumulations Monday through Wednesday, while areas farther south will see mostly rain.
The threat of heavy snow greatly increases for Pennsylvania, New York, New England, or areas north of Virginia, says Weather Network meteorologist Tyler Hamilton. Early models show that some areas could see snow of up to a foot or more. This is something were going to have to watch over the next few days.

I will.
Actually, we’ll find out when it gets here.
Don’t forget the lake effect Wed after the storm passes.
Crazy, isn’t it?
WOW.
What’d you do wrong to deserve that?????
What stupid weather? It's been an average winter in Buffalo this year. At least so far.
Fortunately I live in an apartment complex, and don’t have to shovel. They’re pretty good about clearing out the parking lot, and the Rome road crews keep the roads clear. Lately, the majority of the snow has fallen north of us. I don’t go out unless I absolutely have to, which is one of the benefits of being retired. I’m supposed to have a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, but may end up changing it.
Somehow I knew you would either be in warm weather or planning to go here.
Have a good trip. -Tom
We had to mostly close the windows.

At least Maryland’s far enough south that we don’t usually get the Lake Effect.
I have a hair appt Tues morning which I can walk to if SHE gets there.
Tuesday afternoon is a dr appt in Syracuse which I may end up canceling (with a lot of other patients, no doubt. Depends on what the conditions on the interstate are.
Go away....
>:(
I don’t think I’ve ever seen it reach that far.
Albany is about the furthest I’ve seen it go.
Actually, you kind of do.
You get your version of it.
It's called *nor'easters*.
Good luck, and stay safe.
That’s actually a sea effect snow.
Or ocean effect.
Same principle.
State of emergency declared in New York as major snowstorm approaches
Thanks for the ping. I cancelled my doctor’s appointment for tomorrow afternoon since that’s when the heaviest snowfall is supposed to start. They’re saying 7-14 inches tomorrow, then possibly another 6-8 inches on Wednesday. Lighter snowfall the rest of the week.
I did too.
But it’s all moot now.
With a state of emergency, nobody can travel anyway unless it’s an emergency.
Sure can change!
