“Frankly, you’re not his friend, you are simply the guy that gives him shelter and unlimited food.”

I can say for certain you are wrong about dogs. Just because they do not speak our language, does not make them any less of a friend.

There are numerous publicized examples of dogs risking their own lives to save family members. Numerous examples of dogs visiting their owner’s graves for many years even if they are well fed.

It’s no surprise that many people consider their dog to be a family member.

Nope, just read the Bible.

Genesis 1:27 reads: So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

No mention of Doberman’s or German Shepherds.

How about John 3:16, for God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:17 reads faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

A pet doesn’t have the intellectual capability to hear about the word and have the requisite faith, nor can it believe.

I don’t want to be mean and heartless, but according to scripture only people who believe in Jesus will be in heaven, and their pets will not.

That dog is currently located in something else’s digestive tract.

There are some serious emotional issues in these people’s lives to be so thrown for a loop by a missing dog that they actually put their lives on hold for it.

So the couple finds the dog, gets married, and the dog, who will never outlive them, dies.

What’s going to happen to the marriage?

It could simply mean that God favors us among Creation because we are able to ‘feel after Him’, and love Him.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that God doesn’t love and provide for His other creatures, too.

Sharing love for something - anything - is a great ‘glue’ between people, in my experience.

Also, most people who take their animals seriously also take their responsibilities toward them very seriously. I would question the character of any person who failed to do the utmost to protect an animal for which they had taken responsibility.

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. Matthew 10:29

But, while God knows and has concern for the birds, it doesn’t say he takes them to heaven. Unlike humans who are immortal and either go to heaven or hell, animals just die.

Well, we don’t have enough meeting-places to argue further. I don’t believe in Hell, and I don’t believe that anything truly dies.

Putting wedding plans on hold over a dog?

If that relationship is so dependent on that dog to glue it together, I stand by my contention that there are some serious emotional issues in those people’s lives.

And when the glue is gone, then what? The marriage dissolves?

A marriage needs more to hold it together than a dog.

Being an animal lover I can’t even imagine the heartbreak. I do hope they find their dog and have a happy future together.

You should really take a look at Biblical Christianity. Many who have tried to prove it wrong intellectually come to believe its truth.

There’s a great book entitled Evidence that Demands a verdict by Josh McDowell. He’s one of those who set out to disprove Christianity. Check it out.

David Limbaugh, Rush’s brother has a similar book. I forget the name and haven’t read it yet but have heard that it’s similar.

All the best to you. I enjoyed the give and take.

It's odd that you'd be citing scripture pertaining to the lesser creatures and not cite Romans 8:19-22, which does not support your interpretation.

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

I agree with you. My daughter and only child died in her sleep from an undiagnosed heart condition. We had dinner the night before, and she was fine. She was only 29 years old and left a husband and 18 month old daughter and broken-hearted parents. NOTHING can be compared to losing a child — NOTHING!! I grieve her loss every day and will NEVER “get over it”.

I suspect more than one angel has entered into a dog to do its wonders.

Frankly, you’re not his friend, you are simply the guy that gives him shelter and unlimited food.

That's not true. Sounds like you need a friend.
