Whats a lawyer proof trigger please.
The idea being if you were to design a proper trigger(meaning smooth, light, maybe even adjustable by the user) and someone got killed or hurt by inadvertant discharge, then the manufacturer would be sued.
I would replace the Taurus 738 with the model 709/740 in 9mm / .40 S&W respectively. Slighly more expensive, but either 9mm or .40 offers more stopping power than .380cal. Plus the 709 and 740 offer a frame mounted safety, which makes IWB and pocket carry safer.

Can’t beat ruger rugged quality.
My colt mustang required me to replace the plastic trigger with an aftermarket aluminum one as a hole that pulled a metal pin stretched so much as to make the gun jam repeatedly. The fix worked but the quality of the gun was crippled by bean counters. I also replaced the plastic recoil spring guide rod too.
The Sigs are gonna be way more than $350.
I carry an LC9S and have had zero problems and I shoot a lot. I hit very well with it and the trigger is just about perfect for a gun that is intended to be used in a stressful situation. I will add that I have small hands for a guy so it fits me very well.
Taurus 85 Revolver. I got one of these, Really good trigger with rubber grips. Buffalo Bore cartridges short barrel low flash 158gr. soft cast LSWHP-GC 850fps. Weaver stance, FTW.
One guy at a local shop I know carries a Bersa .380. Good value for the price.
I have an LC9, bought it new. The only problem I’ve ever had with it is the first time I shot it, racking the slide it did not go into battery/close completely.
A shot with the heel of my hand nudged it forward and then no problems after that. I also removed the mag disconnect. Takes about 5-10 minutes, utube shows you how.
I wouldn’t go any smaller than a 9mm for a defense weapon, and that would be a back-up. The corollary to the #1 rule: `Bring a gun’ is: 2. Bring enough gun.
G42- Howvdo I turn off this dang spellcheck?
Exactimundo.
If the crunch ever comes, you’ll want the best.
SIG and Glock are tops.
I bought one of those POS Kel-tec pistols. First shot went bang, second shot went bang, third shot went click. They tried to tell me it was because the ammo they sold me (S&B) had “hard primers”. Maybe their pistol has a weak spring. Sounds like progressives blaming everything but themselves.
True dat.
Bersa Thunder is a pretty darn good gun for the money.
The Ruger 9e is a bargain as well.
The only issue I have with the Taurus 709 Slim is the trigger pull is a little heavy. Knowing that in advance and a little practice and you’re good.
The 738 just needs a good round to go in it. I suggest Hornady Critical Duty.
Particularly if you shoot as many practice rounds as you should to maintain your skills. The cheaper guns may not be made to last for thousands of practice rounds.
It might be better to buy a used high-quality gun, than a new low-quality one.
Plus, if I do get into a situation where I have to use it, I don't worry too much about how long the police will keep it for evidence.
Yes sir. One of my father’s favorite expressions: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low cost.”
I hope I never know what it feels like to have a FTF when it really counts. I’m thinking about a revolver, a shrouded airweight S&W for ankle carry.
But I read something about an internal lock on them than can lock it up unless you have it gunsmithed, so whatchagonnado. Shouldn’t have to gunsmith a new piece.
Seriously, I've bought many over the years and given them to family members. Great trigger in double action.
I prefer a PA 63 Walther PPK clone.($250.00/mint)
