Amature video shot today close to the dam.
That is not an overflowing situation, it is a controlled release down the main (but damaged) spillway. The emergency spillway is not visible in that video, it is to the far left and is not overflowing this morning.
You’re posting from the future?
I ask because the video is dated the 13th.
They are probably all high
I recall someone once sent a note to their congress critter, something along the lines:
Is the entire legislature all drunk, all the time?
I would be pretty upset if all weekend I had heard its okay, its okay, we have it all under control, and then told at sunset on Sunday, to get out.
UMMMMMM Today IS the 13th.
Are you able to see the dam from your location, which is the same level as the top of the dam? You might want to charge up any video cameras you have (including cellphones) because you might see the beginnings of the destruction of everything essentially downstream on the Feather River to the Sutter and Yolo Bypasses, with possible damage as far south as Dixon! :-O
Does anyone know if that other large storm that was making its way in is still coming in this direction?
Mis-titled video. That’s not the dam overflowing. That’s not even the emergency spillway. That’s the main spillway (with the hole in it) fed through the controllable gates.
Looks like a clip of the periscope stream from yesterday.
This is the real world consequence of electing people who are more interested in helping illegal aliens then they are keeping you safe.
This is the real world consequence of putting people in office who are more concerned with social justice then the social contract they have to the state of California and its people.
This is the real world consequence of electing people who have their heads in the BS envinwackos clouds rather than practical Americans with their feet firmly planted on the ground who worry about silly things like emergency dam spill ways .
This is the real world consequence of saying FU to reality, Americanism and embracing progressive liberalism
Its almost biblical - you'd think I'd hate living here but its awesome these days getting to goad these liberal pricks - so easy to trigger then I laugh and laugh.
Yeah this is the consequence of living life in accordance with liberal leftist progressive values, policies it will probably end in misery and lots of needless death - Keep voting for Democrats California DAMit!
Thanks!
I have no doubt the "planners" of California will soon be warning us all that — despite the unfortunate events at the Oroville — the drought is not over, and Californians must continue water conservation efforts.
And oh by the way, your taxes will be going up to pay for the flood damage.
This while continuing to send tens of millions of gallons of fresh into the Pacific ocean every day.
And Californians will continue to feel much smarter than the bitter clingers in the other 49 states.
If I understand it correctly, Army Corps of Engineers has to approve releases. If true, 2 q’s: Were releases requested? If so, how many and how many of those were approved, when?
YouTube only allows one to post videosome the day they were recorded?
Yup.
While 3/4 of a million gallons of water a second dropping close to 800 feet is quite dramatic, what the video shows is a controlled release.
But the video is from yesterday.
You KNOW of course, it’s Bush’s fault!
Thankful you and yours are okay. Thank you for this update.
Yes. Rain supposed to start Wed. night followed by seven days of rain off and on.
Although often referred to as the emergency spillway it is officially called the auxiliary spillway.
Some call it an undocumented spillway or dreamer spillway.
