Wow, Geraldo did something right! The left’s passion for rewriting history and making historical unpersons, as Orwell warned about, should be resisted. And I’m an old Yankee with no brief for the South or the Confederacy.

Narcissistic Geraldo is just outraged that they did not change the name from Calhoun College to Rivera College.

The issue is not honoring someone else. It is the absurdity of Yale dishonoring one of the true immortals of the U.S. Senate. Yale--as I posted on their news site--has acted in a way that would be analogous to one in which the Courtiers, in the Hans Christian Andersen classic, had taken the honest little boy away to a Communist of Nazi reeducation center, for daring to suggest that the King was as naked physically, as the Yale Administration is intellectually.
For anyone not aware of the mental clarity of Calhoun, here is a link to his Fort Hill Address: Calhoun Address.
I am certainly not usually a Geraldo fan. But I will applaud anyone who speaks truth to pseudo intellectual thuggery.

King County, Washington, was originally named for a 19th-century politician but a few years ago the folks in Seattle renamed it for Martin Luther King, Jr.
Yale could have followed the same path--instead of it being named for John C. Calhoun, it could have been renamed for Algonquian J. Calhoun.

Narcissistic or extreme self worth?

Coming from a long line of Eli’s that go back to the 18th century, you made me smile. :)

Grace Hopper headed the teams in the Navy that produced the first compilers for computer languages: COBOL and FORTRAN. It is not unreasonable to honor her.The fact is, Yale should have honored her long ago. Now they're just making it seem like she's a placeholder. Disgusting hypocricy.

Yale could have followed the same path--instead of it being named for John C. Calhoun, it could have been renamed for Algonquian J. Calhoun.
From Amos n Andy LOL! I was thinking the same thing about nearby Brooksville, FL, named for SC Rep Preston Brooks (a DEM), a staunch supporter of slavery who damn near beat to death Sen Charles Sumner, a REPUBLICAN abolishionist Senator from Mass. My solution, merely change WHO the town is named for. How about the late great comedian Foster Brooks. HMMM, his trademark drunken act on the old Dean Martin roasts may show "insensitivity" to those with substance abuse issues. Or we could name the town for Mel Brooks. Finally a Southern town named for a Jew, how cool would that be? :) NAHH, the PC not sees consider Blazing Saddles demeaning to Black people, even though one main premise of the movie was to mock the old stereotypes. Gee, it's tough to be politically correct! :/

Dennis Hopper is just angry that the college wasn’t renamed for him.
That is one clever and ironic post you did there.

Well, there are a few places (mostly very small) in the South named for Christian saints who were Jews, like St. Paul or St. Joseph, but I guess those don't count.
How long can our capital be named in honor of a slaveholder? There is always Booker T. Washington as an alternative to George, but Booker is not seen as militant enough to be held up for praise.

Maybe Freddie Boom Boom Washington from Welcome Back Kotter
