The retired schoolteacher hung the first poster board in his living room long ago, a record of achievements that filled him with pride: education certificates from his native Jamaica and New York City; a 1970s magazine article about new teachers that begins, Richard Lewis: dashing, debonair, youthful and energetic.
Mr. Lewis is 70 now, his vitality sapped by time and, more than that, recent events. He spent much of last week showing off a second poster board in his living room in the Tilden Houses in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. He made the board for his youngest son.
Mr. Chanel Lewis completed Middle School, it says across the top in black marker. Welcome to High School.
Below are the boys certificates and records of accomplishment, milestones to celebrate. Six years after that middle school graduation, though, that young man, now 20, is charged in a hideous crime that shocked New York City for its seeming randomness.

I wish another animal like Chanel Lewis would stab to death either the author of the article or a family member of the author.
I’m sorry, that’s just how I feel.
The lawyers ask us not to jump to any conclusions. This is despite his DNA being found on her, she was raped, and he admitted to murdering her. But hey, it looks like the media is honoring the lawyers. All this article does is dredge up the murderers middle school achievements as if he is a child. Its a bit odd though, that they have Obama propaganda hanging up with family photos.
The kid’s PD or pro bono lawyer will tout the kid and his family and all that totally ignoring the woman he killed.
The next optic will be “People only care because it was a white girl”. That provides the narrative that black men killing white women is a natural byproduct of white racism, not malice aforethought.
The media is EVIL.
