ABC is moving forward with its Carol Burnett comedy.
The network on Thursday handed out an official pilot order to the comedy, now known as Household Name, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Executive produced by Parks and Recreation grad Amy Poehler, the multicamera comedy follows a family who has an opportunity to buy the house of their dreams but under extremely abnormal circumstances: they must live with the previous owner, an eccentric, larger than life actress (Burnett).

Carol Burnett, I can handle.
Amy Poehler, not so much.
But, the show might not be long-lasting, unless Carol can outlive old age.
She is 83 now, so, how long will the premise of the show continue, unless they extend the show to have an “unseen ghost” of Carol talking to Amy and family from the beyond.
Amy Pohler is not funny and is only someone a millennial can look up to.
The headline is somewhat confusing. Did Carol Burnett write the comedy skits and/or is she acting in them in a show being produced by Amy?. A few verbs thrown in here and there would have cleared things up. This may be shorthand, or ‘inside information’ from Hollywood, aimed at those already aware of what both women do , and their places in the entertainment world.
????
Sounds like a bit of a spin off from Hot in Cleveland. That show was hysterical. The last time Poehler made me laugh was an SNL skit when she was pregnant and trying to pick up Josh Brolin at a bar. That was years ago........
Burnett and Poehler are producing and Burnett is also starring in the show.
According to the article, the story goes that a family can purchase a home as long as the former owner, Burnett, can live with them.
I guess the story could continue on, in the event of Carol's untimely demise...maybe as a ghost or hologram? She could still be a 'Household Name'?? 😏
stupid idea but i’m sure people will tune in for Burnett supposedly living with these people.
Thanks. Good for Carol, that she still has the flair, humor and timing to do such work at her age. Some older folks stay emotionally flexible and keep all their mental abilities, while some don’t. It’s both heredity and the luck of the draw. It’s also a matter of public appeal.
NOTE: Don Rickles is still alive too, at age 90.
However, besides being at an advanced age, Don’s caustic brand of humor would be a hard sell in today’s world, where some folks think they ‘have a right not to be offended.’ This “delicate myopia” is an eccentric trait that has now become a completely new societal concept.
I’ve always liked her. She’s a good dramatic actress, too. Dick Van Dyke is also still with us and he looks fantastic at 91!
Don Rickles is one of the all-time greats as well. Such a funny man with a wonderful smile!
She looks great!

Vicki Lawrence could pick up the part.
LOLOL....perfect!
It sounds like Carol Burnett's character may be a variation of the "Nora Desmond" character she played on her variety show. I've always felt that Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett were the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of comediennes. I have mixed feelings about this project. I hope they maintain the standard of comedy that Carol Burnett is known for, and don't rely on crude language and bathroom humor in an attempt to get cheap laughs. I would hate to see Carol Burnett end her brilliant career that way.
Lucille Ball’s last comedy wasn’t very good. She was older and her age showed. Hopefully Burnett will be better.
