Veteran broadcaster Oprah Winfrey is set to join CBS’s 60 minutes this fall as a special contributor, where she seeks to understand “what separates us” at a time in which the country is divided, the network has announced. When the news was announced on Tuesday, 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager said:
There is only one Oprah Winfrey. She has achieved excellence in everything she has touched. Her body of work is extraordinary, including thousands of interviews with people from all walks of life. She is a remarkable and talented woman with a level of integrity that sets her apart and makes her a perfect fit for 60 Minutes. I am thrilled that she will be bringing her unique and powerful voice to our broadcast”:
Winfrey, who has a decorated career in broadcasting and philanthropy with The Oprah Winfrey Show and a net worth of more than $3 billion, said that she was “excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program,” a program, she added, that “represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling.”
“At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.”
Although remaining apolitical for the majority of her career, Winfrey first endorsed Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in the 2007 Democratic primaries and endorsed Hillary Clinton’s candidacy last year, saying that you “don’t have to like her,” as the choice was between “democracy or a demagogue.”
Winfrey’s joining the 60 Minutes comes after two of the show’s key correspondents, Bob Simon and Morley Safer, passed away last year.

Bill Buckley once was unable to remember Oprah’s name, so he called her “the black lady who is alternately fat and thin.”
So more made up stuff and propaganda.
Some people might not like this, but maybe we need a succession act.
A state could dedicate 10% of its [property, sales, income, etc.] tax revenue to pay on the national debt and go its own way.
As for Social Security, if all your kids pay into it, you could still get it, at the amount of FICA and SE tax they pay. They would get no quarterly credits.
If all your kids live in the new country, then things would be per the law of the new country.
Nevada might go out. That would tend to tame the Socialist Republic of California, since Reno could become the next Silicon Valley.

The only “white privilege” I know of involves medical care.
Doctors often wear white.
Anybody here know of a law passed during Obama’s presidency that enriched doctors (and drug companies) and impoverishes lower and most middle income people?
Maybe Congress should rename it the White Privilege Act before killing it off.
Nothing says “stupid” like putting a black racist in charge of telling us what divides us.
