It has to be made fresh every time because at this low a concentration it deteriorates quite rapidly into salt water, literally within minutes. You start with a 8.4% solution and then dilute it 20 to 1 so the NaCL is very dilute before you use it. It is very unstable in such a low concentration and will not keep. There are buffers you can add to it that will extend the longevity of the solution, but that is not something for home made solution makers to try. Even then exposure to the air will change the dilution rapidly.
Under reported and not uncommon. About 4 years ago a 56 year old retiree I played softball with died under the same circumstances..........
You used to be able to tell the difference by the cap color which Clorox to use with the deep royal blue cap being the unadulterated pure bleach. But about three years ago, Clorox gave up on the different colored caps and all caps became the same color. That was a disservice to their customers. Even the antibacterial Clorox has additives now. The one advantage is that most of those are just buffers to keep it from losing its potency. They went from 7.2% to an 8.4% "Concentrated" formula Clorox too. It doesn't make much difference in the Dakins Solution formulation though. If you worry about it, use 24 to 1 water to Clorox to make the solution.
I’ve used straight baking soda for the last fifty years. Still have all my teeth. A few cavities from my teens and one cavity since then.
Biggest problem I have is cracking teeth when I bite into an unpopped piece of popcorn.
But then, I was raised on high plains water with lots of natural fluoride in it. Dad had all his teeth, my wife has all her teeth, my kids have super strong teeth.
Mother-in-law had super strong teeth but a quack dentist convinced her that her arthritis was caused by pyria so she had them pulled. She still had arthritis, but no teeth, till she died.
Keep amoxicillin handy for times you can’t get to a dentist immediately.
No not super bugs. Our dental office has a picture of a little elementary boy who died from same thing. Been there for 13 years, so that people will know. Infection can spread to your blood and make you septic. That can be from teeth or anything else.
This dental practice will get people in ASAP, if they suspect infection.
Most people just don’t realize that a tooth infection can be fatal.

I prefer Fire Ball Cinnamon Whisky, brush, swish and swallow, then throw a little shot in the coffee and it eases the shoulder pains as well while you warm up, loosen the joints and get about business.
I had a hip replacement and my surgeon wants to prescribe small doses of antibiotics before I have a regular tooth cleaning because he doesn't want any bacterial infection to get started/become systemic as the bones that were affected cannot protect themselves like normal, un-cut bones with implants.
Got it, thanks.
The one we get is marked on the front of the jug in big
block letters “ANTIBACTERIAL”. The ingredient label is
also not marked with anything added. (I suppose it is
possible that they’re being sneaky.) :o(
I just noticed that my earlier post had the auto-correction change my correct formulas for Sodium Hypochlorite change to the formula for SALT. . . Sheesh, sometimes I HATE auto-correction! It's NaClO, not NaCl!
Look up the Materials Safety Data Sheet on the Clorox Antibacterial and you will find it is not "pure" NaClO and water and does have other chemicals added as buffers. Sorry, but our office has researched this thoroughly. Little known secret: the label on the product does not have to list anything that is below 1%, but the MSDS DOES have to list every chemical in it. . . although not the exact proportion if its a "trade secret," but it has to be listed.
For example, according to the MSDS in addition to water and NaClO Clorox Antibacterial includes as buffers:
The other forms of Clorox have laundry additives and scents added and the taste gets pretty nasty. Some of those are in concentrations higher than 1%.
My sister nearly lost her husband from this a few years ago.
Doc. said if he had waited another day he could not have saved him.
Infected jawbone goes straight to the brain.
I asked my pot head friend why he smokes pot, and his smart aleck answer is “Because I have a fever in my foot”.
Ever since that dialog several months ago I’ve been brushing using baking soda. It seems to work.
I have been brushing my teeth with baking sofa for many years. I can still remember in the beginning how awful it tasted. It I doesn’t taste bad now, I can’t tell that it has any taste at all.
