Ouch, this makes me feel old. Got my first license back in the 70s. Morse Code!

Not that hard, assuming you have the proper license. Do a search on YouTube would be my first suggestion.

Antenna design, build, development and testing seem to still be the Wild West.

Now run about 300 watts through that coathanger and you get an antenna, a light bulb filament and if you’re close enough a nice RF burn. Plus if you haven’t tuned for frequency/antenna maybe a blown up rig from SWR (standing wave reflected).
To: Kid Shelleen
I used to be, sort of. Too many countries have dropped their SW broadcasts.
When I remember, I'll check out the WBCQ stations.
What I really missed was ILG's month-old quarterly files that I'd used for my TenTec black box. Being able to sort on On Air/English, and click was great.

arghhhh old age brain fart SWR=standing wave ratio

A sunspot number and solar flux that’s in the toilet doesn’t help either.

Get to know some local ham radio operators. They will teach you.

Very interesting; Speaking of radios is anybody a short wave enthusiast? I've got a small setup for emergencies. I went last year and got my Extra. I'm in a valley and only have any luck with 40 and 80M.
Set up my son a system with Winlink. You familiar with that?

Been a ham for 47 of my 59 years.
