“It looks like obama had more people in 2009, but not much more....”
Obama had all of the D.C. locals attending his Inauguration, as Wash. D.C. has a huge Black population, and “one of their own” had been elected. I can assure you, that the majority of the locals this time around did not show up to see Trump being elected.
Many of Trump’s supporters come from flyover country, and therefore it was not that easy for them to get to Wash. D.C. for the Inaugural. Add to that depleted money sources for middle class and Joe six-pack supporters of Trump because of 8 years of Obama’s monetary policies, and the fact that many people who actually work for a living couldn’t take off from work for the weekday Inaugural ceremonies (unlike the college students and welfare folks that constituted the majority of Obama’s supporters) the numbers that did turn out for Trump in the capitol were astounding.
