A Dogs Purpose -- the upcoming major motion picture based on the best-selling novel by W. Bruce Cameron -- is set to open later this month, but new footage obtained by TMZ may give animal lovers pause about going to see it.
The exclusive video shows an animal trainer forcing a terrified German shepherd dog into a pool of raging water, while the animal tries desperately to escape. Its a chilling behind-the-scenes look at the filmmakers attempt to recreate a scene from the book, in which a police K-9 named Ellie rescues someone from a rushing river.

It scares me that I agree with PETA.
It’s CBS. I’d rather hear the trainers side. Most of those people love their animals so don’t jump to conclusions. Funny that this comes out now when it’s about to come out instead of when it happened.
I remember when PETA came onto a showground and ran around opening all the crates and making noises to scare the dogs into running. While they were yellin Free. you Are Free terrified animals ran into the street and many were hit and died, others cringed in fear and it was hours before their owners found them. Very few animals on this planet are as loved and pampered as show dogs. The PETA people watched as one dog was hit by a car and their comment was the dog was better off. I hate PETA and their phony agenda
At this point, I can no longer condone zoos.
They are immoral.
Aren’t there also similar stories about the ASPCA?
Well, scratch THAT film from my “Want to See” list. I wouldn’t contribute a cent toward the pockets of cretins who would utilize animal cruelty to produce their film. They should be prosecuted. I hope the doggie is OK.
Some people here are as bad as liberals. They read or hear one thing from one source and desktops across the nation shatter as knees jerk uncontrollably out of joint...
“I can’t believe I agree with PETA.”
“Wanted to see this but not now.”
“No animal should be treated inhumanely.”
It’s the MEDIA for crying out loud. Didn’t the election teach you anything?
Always, always, always, always check. And then check again. And again just to confirm that you need to check again before you believe even one iota of what they said.
It’s called a “grip” - get one.
I’ve never heard of any... do you have a link?
This was an interesting read reflecting some of what I’ve heard before and some I hadn’t. https://www.activistfacts.com/organizations/american-society-for-the-prevention-of-cruelty-to-animals-aspca/
Basically it seems the best way to help animals is in your own home, and/or your local pet shelter. Stay away from the national groups. And be aware that the ASPCA doesn’t have anything to do with your local SPCA.
There will be time to tell the other side as they are under investigation now. I have a lot of problems with PETA as well but at least they are out in front of these scandals in a way that mainstream organizations like the Humane Society are often shamefully not.
