So, how much of our exports were actually components, materials, and machinery for building car parts that were later sent back to America in a refined form as a Mexican export and then installed into a car that was labeled as having been "Proudly Made in the USA"?
The more important question is, how many US jobs have been lost as a result of this "free trade" policy.
That's an important question because we are having to support systems like social security and medicare with an ever shrinking tax base which itself is an interesting phenomena since Obama has told us all many many times that he has been a job creatin' son of a gun.
The million dollar question is, has the free trade/globalization economy led us to a national economic disaster?
sorry about the first post Admin Mod. I got distracted.
My Hyundai Sonata is made in America. My Chevy Silverado is made in a foreign country.
As far as I know ALL Japanese cars made for the Japanese market are manufactured in Japan with made in Japan components .
How many US jobs would be lost if we couldn't export that $236 billion worth of goods to Mexico?
No UAW products, not now, not ever.
My Honda Pilot as made in Alabama!
Americans need to do their part over the next 8 years. Boycott Chinese goods.
Look at the labels. Average hard working Americans have the upper hand over the global elites.
If each one of us does our part, boycott Chi-com goods, write reviews to companies demanding the return of manufacturing in America...we CAN make a difference.
The new generation Camaro is assembled in Michigan.
Subaru’s Legacy, Outback and (now) Impreza models are built in Lafayette, Indiana.
From the kind of car I drive
To my video game
I got a NIKKON camera
A Sony color TV
But the one that I love is from the U.S.A.
And standing next to me.
My baby is American Made

My baby is American Made.
She looks good in her tight blue jeans
She bought in Mexico
And she loves wearing French perfume
Everywhere we go

One thing is true
My babys genuine U.S.A.

My baby is American Made
Born and bred in the U.S.A.

Honda CRV is the only non-luxury suv toatally built in the usa.
I own an f150, f450, mustang, and have been a ford owner more than anything else my entire life. I will buy an suv at the end of january, because wife needs awd to get back and forth to work in our rural county.
The Honda. Who’d a thunk it?
There’s “parts built wherever” and “where the vehicle is finally assembled - from sub-assemblies”. I know of one specific vehicle OEM that had to place orders with over 2000 vendors once a vehicle launch was “a go”. Modern vehicles are massively complex, everything from the engine and transmissions to the infotainment systems. They’re quite amazing tbh.
While I wold love to see more mad in the US cars, i don’t really have a issue buying a car made in Canada. Both countries are similar in terms of culture, pay, etc. unlike the US and Mexico.
The Toyota Sequoia is made in the USA... It is only sold in North America, i heard
It's certainly a mixed bag. Trade has lowered our cost of living, which is a good thing.
If we stopped buy clothes manufactured in Asia, then you kiss 50% of retail stores goodbye. Most of the income in the clothing section goes to play employees, not the clothes which are purchased for probably 1/10th of final price you pay.
But manufacturing and construction drives a ton of other jobs for parts, equipment, steel, transportation, etc. So there's a wonderful multiplier effect if you can keep manufacturing inside the country.
Trump, he da' man with da' rust belt plan...
Explorers, built in Chicago. Not sure about what % of parts from where.
I have had a Hyundai Santa Fe that was proudly built near Montgomery, Alabama, and a Chevy S10 that was built in Canada. So go figure. More American working people had a stake in the Hyundai than in the Chevy.
Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization?
Answer: Princess Diana's death.
Question: How come?
Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whiskey, (check the bottle before you change the spelling) followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles; treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines.
This is sent to you by an American, using Bill Gates's technology, and you're probably reading this on your computer, that use Taiwanese chips, and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by Indian lorry-drivers, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, and trucked to you by Mexican illegals.....
That, my friends, is Globalization.
