(vanity) Unintentionally Hilarious Back Cover of a Dime-Store Romance Novel
(none) ^ | 1/13/2017 | (Vanity)

The fact that this book's ad was meant to be serious is what I thought was funny!

How many themes can you pack into one paperback? Vikings, ISIS terrorists, vampires, dude ranches, romance, angels, world class chefs, transporters, cults, ..... did I miss many?

"I think the official subgenre is Paranormal Romance."

I fail to detect any overall genre whatsoever.

Looks to me like a "Genre Bender".

The dude ranch certainly argues in your favor. Fwiw, here’s the definition of paranormal fantasy:

‘Fantasy that often includes elements of the occult, vampires, werewolves, and other mythical beasties from modern folklore. Usually (but not always) takes place in an urban setting. May also include Fantastical Romance elements or incorporate the detective genre.’

Heheh. As long as no mention is made of the zombie sasquatch outbreak, we should be okay.

We’re still good on the cowboy dragon motorcycle club love triangle to nuke the cat and satisfy Act 2’s rising action requirement, right?

I want to know who I have to pay to get a Professional Writer certificate!

If not your Professional Writer’s Certificate, then at a minimum, the Most Creative Writer’s Certificate. Frame it with pride.

I would read it except I don’t see any dragons or orthopedic surgeons. Without those I just don’t see decent plot development.

As writers surely we must have more respect for this utter insanity than for pretentious pop lit that is arguably worse and definitely more insidious.

And I still think one or two dragons and a hockey playing surgeon would have added to the overall mise en place here.;)

Oh my; I swear I didn’t read your call for dragons before voicing my own. Clearly we are among the top literary critics in the hemisphere. Did you also note a dearth of surgeons, as did I?

I have read a few of her books. I like her writing style.

The Very Virile Viking and The Blue Viking are two I know I have read. Both very funny.

Perhaps we should pepper our plot devices with policemen.

Don’t be insulting when you know the correct term is “transgenre.”

Police OFFICERS. Not all from the same species. And pages of alliteration would not hurt. Good one.
