(vanity) Unintentionally Hilarious Back Cover of a Dime-Store Romance Novel
(none) ^ | 1/13/2017 | (Vanity)

The fact that this book's ad was meant to be serious is what I thought was funny!

How many themes can you pack into one paperback? Vikings, ISIS terrorists, vampires, dude ranches, romance, angels, world class chefs, transporters, cults, ..... did I miss many?

I noticed that the Amish are about the only honorable white people in any movie, including survivalist movies. Even Amazon Prime’s “Aftermath” had liberal white suburbanites saving the simple Amish rip offs.

The “New Pennsylvania” series reads like it pulled an idea from Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series.
Colony ships got permission to go if they took undesirables with them. In the case of Pern, a number of Irish travelers, Tuareg tribes people and gypsies were sent with the colonists.

That's because that is the model that the wealthy liberal elites want for the proles. A colorful, harmless agrarian society that can't communicate in real time over large distances to organize a resistance, is pacifist so they aren't a threat, and who don't divert resources from the elites.

Except they will break up the agricultural units into subsistence sized farms, and limit reproduction involuntarily. A Hollywood elite's dream world.

“Makes a little more sense the then series (yes, series) of dinosaur erotica on Amazon.”

Real title: Helicopter Man Pounds Dinosaur Billionaire Ass

Truly this is a sign of the Apocalypse.

This is not to attack you, but as a writer I have to say that this is biggest pant-load of crap I’ve ever seen on the back of a book. The idea that a word abortion like this gets published is a travesty to writing and assault on literary sensibility.

On the other hand, the description does serve it’s purpose. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would not spend two-cents or two seconds on this verbal bile.

Upon reading this opinion, the New York Times best-selling author cried all the way to the bank, to deposit her latest huge royalty check.

Well, you have your opinion as well, but Sandra Hill is making bank off of this “verbal bile” with over 50 books published. This one is part of a 7-book series that each has 4 Star + reviews on Amazon.

This one (book 7 in the series) has a 4.7 star rating and is number 40 in the subgenre Romance>Historical>Viking rankings. So she has a good fan base, they buy her books, and she earns a living.

It’s not Stephen King money, but it’s more than enough to not care what people who would never read her books say about them.

I knew that when I made my comment. People buy rap crap, too, making rappers rich. Crap is crap, they just found people who love crap.

See my post #53. I can’t explain why people like crap, but just because other people get rich off of them does not make it less crappy. The concepts of writing crap and making money off of crap are not at opposition to each other.

There are two aspects to writing fiction. The first is technical proficiency with language. Many, if not most, people can acquire this skill with sufficient time, practice and outside influence.

The second element is good storytelling. This is a complex talent with many facets. Most writers/would-be writer’s don’t have it and never achieve it.

One thing we can say about best-sellers (of fiction): they are that rare breed that absolutely knows how to tell a story. As the famous editor once said, “Good writers are a dime a dozen. Good storytellers are priceless.”
