Hope I am doing this right!
Come check out the cooking thread! Theme warm and cozy on Friday the 13th!
We usually have seafood on Fridays. I think we have some frozen scallops and haddock, but it’s possible that my husband will get something fresh on his way home.
“warm and cozy”
It’s 34 degrees F. right now in the Rolling Plains of TX.
Berrr.
But it won’t last long here, even in the winter, smile.
I’ve got some seeds planted in my sun room, thinking about spring.
Yaelle, I love white-bean chili, too. My grandson can’t eat the pork, so that’s why I made him the chicken and dumplings. Honestly, he’d be happy with just the bread. He asked me a few minutes ago to write down the recipe for my bread...because I’m getting old....and you never know when I might die. (I’m laughing...he’s only 6, and he’s brutally honest).
Looking good! We’re in another cold spell here in SW Wisconsin. We’ve been running about 5-10 degrees BELOW average, which isn’t a lot of fun for anyone out here on the farm.
I’m about 60 miles from The Mighty Mississippi, now; good Eagle-Watching where the Wisconsin meets the Mississippi, which we will do in a few weeks.
Beau is in TX hunting wild hog. I’m home with a new puppy! 8 weeks old; Treeing Walker Coon Hound named, ‘Seneca.’ Energetic playing for 90 minutes or so, then totally zonks out. (Zonked out, now.) He’s been sleeping through the night from 10pm-6am, so I’m happy about that!
I won’t be cooking much this week - Beau’s ‘vacation’ is also MINE - a vacation from the kitchen! I am eating up leftovers in the fridge and there are lots of fine things in there:
Salad Fixin’s
Spaghetti Squash
Oven-baked Zucchini ‘fries’
Mushroom Gravy Smothered Burgers
Fixin’s for Tacos
I’m pretty sure I’ll survive the weekend. ;)
I’m having a “meatless Sunday”. I’ll make some vegetarian chili, using the Pioneer Woman’s recipe, with one small change. Her recipe calls for zucchini, but I’m not fond of zucchini in my chili. So I’m going to swap it out for some corn instead. I think it’s going to be good! Pioneer Woman has never steered me wrong.
This is a great lamb stew. I used just a bit of sugar, not the 1/3 cup as per the recipe. Food and Wine has other great winter stews at this site:
