It seemed like a bit of a longshot all week that Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson would be able to play in Sundays NFC Divisional round game against the Dallas Cowboys; going back to Monday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy would say only that Nelson had a chance to be on the field.
But on Friday, McCarthy told media that there is essentially no chance: Nelson, who suffered at least two fractured ribs in Green Bays wild-card win over the New York Giants last week, will not play. New York safety Leon Hall drilled Nelson in the side with his helmet as Nelson was stretching for a catch.

No biggie. Packers have a “next man up” philosophy.
GO COWBOYS!!!!!
Agree.
Maybe. But Aaron Rodgers really needs Nelson to keep the Cowboys’ offense off the field.
It looked like ‘speering’ to me. Has that ahole been fined yet??
Announcers said that the guy that took JN out would be receiving a letter from the NFL.
Really!
As long as his helmet was inflated to the full pressure, it should be OK.
Not good! You could tell it immediately. When a tough guy like Nelson grimaces in pain it’s bag - now we know it was.

Will Jerry Jones call the plays if the Cowboys are losing?
Congratulating them? The NFL desperately wants it to Pittsburgh vs. Dallas (or Seattle) in the Super Bowl.
Hopefully it's New England or K.C. vs. Atlanta or Green Bay.
-—”Had a chance”-—
LOL...any one who saw that hit and the amount of time he was on the ground knew he at the minimum had broken or cracked ribs...
No way he plays...ever try and breath with cracked ribs?
Tough break - Aaron Rodgers is on fire and every team in the playoffs should be very nervous about facing a team that has reeled off 7 straight wins, but he’s got to have receivers to throw it to.
Somebody better call the fire department.
I am pretty sure that the TV folk want Seattle and the Patriots in SB LI ... east coast vs left coast teams. Flyover country teams need not apply.
Dez Bryant has to have a big game for the Cowboys to win. If Green Bay has to focus on him, that opens up their running game, and Dallas should control possession. And that keeps Rodgers off the field.
“But Aaron Rodgers really needs Nelson to keep the Cowboys offense off the field.”
Last week the Packers and Rodgers beat the best defense in the NFC with 4 touchdown passes and nearly 400yrds in the air. Rodgers was sacked only once and threw no interceptions.
38-13.
Dallas has a better offense than the Giants. Their running game will be a factor especially.
But they can’t score 38 points against the Packers, and the Packers are most certainly capable of scoring 38 against them. Or 45.
In the Wild Card game, the Packers didn’t score until Nelson was out of the game.Maybe its a good thing?
#6, They’ll get right to it after they take those 6 Points handed to the Packers involving that Offensive Facemask against Detroit in the end zone that was “not seen”.
