It seemed like a bit of a longshot all week that Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson would be able to play in Sundays NFC Divisional round game against the Dallas Cowboys; going back to Monday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy would say only that Nelson had a chance to be on the field.
But on Friday, McCarthy told media that there is essentially no chance: Nelson, who suffered at least two fractured ribs in Green Bays wild-card win over the New York Giants last week, will not play. New York safety Leon Hall drilled Nelson in the side with his helmet as Nelson was stretching for a catch.

No way they win without him.
ever try and breath with cracked ribs?”
Not only breathe, but sleep, stretch, sit, get dressed, etc. Every move you make is painful. Can’t imagine anyone playing football with broken or cracked ribs. Could easily puncture a lung.
LOL!
I heard he has a collapsed lung and a lacerated spleen too. Ouch. I was in the hospital for 5 days with a punctured lung.
I didn’t understand why no flag was thrown for that hit. He was blindsided.
Watch Cobb & Rodgers make up some of the difference.
Exactly what I told my kids as the play unfolded.
Sports writers sure have some interesting names these days.
“Maybe. But Aaron Rodgers really needs Nelson to keep the Cowboys offense off the field.”
I agree. No matter which way you slice it, Nelson on the bench hurts.
No worries. He can start rehabbing during the off season, which for the Packers, starts Sunday night.
Dallas reeled off 11 straight wins.
Sorry to hear that. Was in an auto accident years ago and cracked several ribs and punctured a lung also. Wheezing sound is scary. Ribs still bother me on occasion. Prayers up for Nelson. Packers have always been my fav team.
Their two losses came against the Giants though (the 3rd loss was a throwaway game).
And where are the Giants now?
LOL!!! You should be a comedian. I have been frustrated with Jerry Jones over the years, but his son Stephen has done a good job lately of reeling him in on football matters.
Definitely spearing. The announcers wouldn’t use the word.
You are correct. They seemed to suffer none for the loss of Nelson.
