This is why the United States has the 2nd amendment. A police officer was ambushed by a gunmen and someone driving by stopped to help the police officer and ended up having to shoot the gunmen to save the officer.
This is the advantage of Arizona having the foresight to allow all of its citizens to own and carry firearms.
From ABC7:
An Arizona trooper trying to help a motorist in a rollover crash was shot in an ambush-style attack by a random suspect, who was then fatally shot by a Good Samaritan driving by.
The trooper with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) was at a traffic stop when he received a report about a driver whose car was shot at near a median at milepost 81 on Interstate 10, reported ABC15, an ABC affiliate in Arizona.
The trooper left the traffic stop to investigate this call when he came across a rollover crash and saw that a woman had been ejected from the wreckage.

who was then fatally shot by a Good Samaritan driving by. Not quite the version of Luke 10:25 I remember, but I'll take it.

“The man was on top of the officer and “getting the better of him,” slamming the trooper’s head against the pavement, Milstead said. That’s when the passing driver showed up and asked if the trooper needed help.
“He said yes, and the passer-by went back to his vehicle, got his gun and told the suspect to stop the attack, Milstead said. When he didn’t, the driver shot him.
The civilian sounds a lot more calm and deliberate than many police officers would be in that situation. I’m surprised he didn’t ask the trooper if it was OK to shoot the guy who was beating the crap out of him.

If it’s a good blog, what do we care that someone posts a link to their own site? Didn’t Drudge start this way? And many other now well-established sites? How else can one market their own blog if not in the friendly waters of Free Republic? I don’t have a blog, but I see nothing wrong with others doing it.

Good grief!

In NY the good Samaritan would have been arrested and charged with numerous gun violation and with murder.
