You know what? I think you’re right!
But that’s not the answer I was going for. It was “AfterMASH”. Starring Harry Morgan, Jamie Farr and the Korean gal he married.
Lasted 1 season.
To: Mathews
Where are...Capt Kirk... Hmmm...I may be the only one to think it but Spock was,by far,the key character...the true star.
To: Dilbert San Diego; dfwgator
I totally forgot about Trapper John MD. Was only thinking of AfterMASH.

Not to mention Lovey Howell, dear!!

But Jimmy, How about a little somethin’ for Angel?

...Adam from Northern Exposure...
Yeah, but exactly how many epis was he in? Ten, according to IMDB, under Adam Arkin. That's over a six year run.
Great character, but didn't have to constantly challenge the writers for great material on a weekly basis.
For him to make the list of the top 50 is a bit of a stretch, imho.

I would also include some of the characters from "The IT Crowd", especially Richmond...

Thanks. He was good, but not the most memorable of tv characters. I’d rate him mid-pack, at best.

There are only 11 women and 2 people of color on the list. How could TV Guide be so misogynistic and racist.
To: schaef21
Angel had no shame.
With a friend like him, Rockford didn’t need enemies.

Trapper John MD was an unusual spin-off in that it was years after the original show aired. It's like the show
Tabitha that lasted only one season in 1977.

lol dittoes.

I think this list meant "character," not character, that is, mostly out-of-the-box sidekicks like Barney Fife, Jane Hathaway, and Maynard Krebbs. Andy Kaufman's character Latka from Taxi would fit better than Danny DeVito's, to go along with Reverend Jim.

And along these lines...
Part of two highly successful TV series. Deserves to be on the list.
To: dfwgator
Eric Cartman belongs on this list.
