First trial over 2015 biker shootout that killed 9 in Waco is set for April

WACO — The first trial over a Central Texas gunfight involving rival motorcycle gangs that left nine people dead, 20 others hurt and more than 150 bikers charged is now set for April, 23 months after the 2015 shootout.

"In complex cases, it's not uncommon for the trial to occur 18 months to two years after the alleged incident occurred," 54th District Judge Matt Johnson, who will preside over some of the trials, told the Waco Tribune-Herald.

"It's not like we had a shortage of cases before Twin Peaks came along," 19th District Judge Ralph Strother, who also will handle some of the trials, said. "It's just the vagaries of the system, the complexity of the cases and the sheer volume that is present in the criminal justice system."

Strother is scheduled to get the first case, set for April 17. The next one follows in June,

Court records show the seven bikers with tentative trial dates are either Bandidos or Cossacks, motorcycle clubs the state considers to be gangs that had gathered for a meeting.

The first to stand trial likely will be Christopher Jacob Carrizal, his father, Christopher Julian Carrizal, or Jerry Edward Pierson, all Bandidos from Dallas.

McLennan County prosecutors have said that first case is likely to take about two weeks.

Besides pushing for speedy trials and dismissal of charges, attorneys for some of the 155 indicted bikers unsuccessfully have sought a change of venue and have tried to disqualify District Attorney Abel Reyna from handling the cases.

A grand jury in September declined to recommend charges for three Waco police officers who shot bikers during May 2015 gunfight.

Ballistics reports seen by The Associated Press show that four of the people killed were hit by the same caliber of rifle round fired by Waco police,

I’m sorry, I thought you were replying to another thread.

I didn’t realize you were so in favor of drug dealing murderers, and ignored the video, physical evidence, statements from the accused’s associates, etc.

You are obviously here to make all FReepers look as mentally disjointed as you are.

But as I said,

We have a false dichotomy being posed here.

I personally am praying for wisdom to apply both on the political and on the judicial side (although the judicial ideally should be politics free, in practice it can’t be).

The ethical and the “strictly legal” don’t necessarily coincide here, and yes, this is something the Trump administration might find itself looking at.

By the way — Travis — weren’t there some pictures of unknown participants in this melee that you were putting out some time ago? Just because a shot wasn’t documented as being an official police weapon doesn’t mean that it was on the part of a biker.

Keep the trolling up if you must. Your emptiness, and that of Gator Mouth, is sounding like the inside of a drum.

Why is anybody trusting the MSM here? They were chock full of lies in the presidential contest.

Ah, the infamous 'Mr. Redboots' ....

"If this is the boots being mentioned, the interesting thing is his pants legs. Why would they have been pulled up like that? Perhaps to get something out of his boot?"

Gator Mouth,

Thy probably don’t allow sharp objects where he is kept.

That’s why I advise you to stop mocking.

However, a nickname is not necessarily a mockery, but an earned characteristic. You were really asking to be called Gator Mouth.

You sound ULTRA defensive. Are you perhaps some official in Texas behind all this stuff?

It’s possible I may have an avenue to an audience with Donald Trump. If I do, yes I will try to say something about this situation.

I.e. the first rule of holes is: stop digging.

Frankly I don’t care if the bikers who actually plotted to have this melee are busted.

But I do care very much if a setup was fomented — without caring what other eggs would be broken in the process of making this rotten omelette — in order to attempt to bust every single biker attending a club event. Why hasn’t the club been banned from existence already? Not all in a club have identical motives or ideals. Sometimes it even turns out Christian bikers will come along just to tell the others about Jesus. (Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved: you and your household.) Not all witnessing or preaching happens in church buildings, although a lot of hypocrisy often does (I can tell you about that having been around some church circults).

You really look spiritually clueless in many ways. I say a lot of this not because I really think YOU will be mollified — I would not be surprised if you kept this game right up — but because those who are following this might be edified.

Actually circuits, though maybe “circults” could apply too... anyhow, don’t be surprised to see you guys’ spiritual rears handed to you when it actually goes to court this time around. The whole spiritual atmosphere of America is changing. Donald Trump is going to be part of encouraging a lot of people to let the Lion of Judah out of the cages in which He has been kept. And this Lion cares about a lot of things that modern secular folks don’t.

And also to consider this even further. A lot of bikers are extremely loyal to their biker families and even to their relatives and even neighbors. They may not — will not — behave as choir boys and choir girls in all circumstances, but a one dimensional look really does not justly describe the whole picture.

And they’re doing that voluntarily. They are on no government payroll, taken from everybody’s taxes and subject to endless politicking. For some this is the only brotherhood they have known.

Lest it sound like I am making bikerhood sound so romantic that everybody ought to give them a free pass, of course not. However there is known such a thing as throwing babies out with the bath water. And gratuitous hatred between various groups only worsens the situation for everybody. Waco might possibly be credited as a catalyst for what will possibly happen — biker clubs will soften or cease their rivalries and unite against this. And the Christian biker contingent will be a factor in a lot of this. But that doesn’t mean Waco will get a pass for it. As the bible says, he who gives a false witness becomes liable for whatever the person being falsely witnessed against would have suffered as a penalty.

May Jesus be glorified here... and it isn’t the hypocrites who will do it.
