I had a Mexican-American roommate for one semester in college whose surname was Chino--which means "Chinese." Padre Kino, the famous Jesuit explorer, was an Italian whose surname was Chino--but he changed the spelling to reflect the pronunciation and because of the Spanish meaning of "Chino."
I read somewhere that about 5% of the Mexican population is of African descent. Pio Pico, Mexican governor of California, was partially of African descent.
Well Mexico always has Memin Pinguin.
That full blooded African population is long gone I'd bet. There are a lot of mixtures the further south you go there though - like Central America. There are tiny Asian communities spread about Latin America no doubt about that. My Cuban wife's cousin is 1/4 Chinese and 3/4 Spanish. She & her kids look Filipino - those Asian genes are strong as heck.
