Some days yer a cute puppy and the next day yer a grenade ...... all about their environment not the breed itself.
Rescue orgs should not be selling or adopting these dogs out. These are one breed where not knowing the full history or lineage is dangerous. Some college kid volunteering at a shelter is not qualified to determine with a rescued pit has the temperament to be adopted out to a family, yet they do everyday across the country.

Who owns them and that’s where bully breeds get the shat

But a well kept dog can bite too it’s just a fact
I like Squantos have owned most big threatening breeds
Besides basic care you have to have an imposing dominator male or a determined alpha female to lord over badass dogs where they just instinctively know who to direct fire at instead of the kids
But that doesn’t give kids license to tease a big male or a cantankerous female period and boys love to see dogs get stirred up which is not smart
I personally would damn sure rather get my leg latched by a pit than taken down by a raging 150 pound Rottie or a T-Rex 90 pound Dobie leaping five foot off the ground at my throat
And if black and white trash owned those two breeds like they do Pits we’d hear a lot more of that no question
My problem with bullies in general is they have a tropical IQ compared to Nazi dogs
No doubt about it
And that matters with dogs
Dumb dogs like dumb people go violent quicker
One good thing about bullies though is they all retain that livestock innateness
I was post roping a wild stud pony a few years ago and he was pulling me around like 3 year old on a spinnaker line
My bitch ABD all 130 pounds of her jumped off the veranda and right thru the pasture fence bottom plank like it was kindling and hit that pony where upon he froze like a statue and went instantly submissive as she eyeballed him and growled

Rott three my noble constant companion was killed in October and bout killed me too and my family did an intervention with some Serb Rott pups
I’ve owned several Pits....they will bite and I’m more cautious with them and loud kids
I had like Salamander here a Hoyt Dobie who was a monster but I never worried about the kids with him
He was all family servant besides trying to kill cats his only flaw
Fearless and inquisitive and very wary
I’m a Rott Dobie guy no doubt but toughest dog I ever owned was a Southern ABD from Konfederate Kennels in South Georgia
Like 120 pound rangy pit
He bite everyone but me and Wifey so we got him adopted by a French bully breeder and he’s now a stud dog with a high volume

But at nearly 60 I think I’ll stick with Rotts or Dobes

When he met my 154 pound Rott the first time last summer he rolled over paws up belly exposed
He cowers from her Chiahuahua
Pits have to be watched
They need a strong owner
A couple or a strong man or firm chick

I have always had natural size and personality to handle dangerous breeds
They typically defer to my size and personality and deep profound speak
Plus they sense everyone else in the family honors my spot too
If you pay attention to dogs they will tell you a lot
I ain’t never loved anything except a few humans like I loved that last Rott
