The WPIX Yule Log from 1970. WPIX is again airing the Yule Log on Christmas Eve and Christmas. This is the original filmed at Gracie Mansion.
They’ve got a nice one a lot like this on Hallmark Mysteries. I’m used to just a closeup of a log, but this new one also shows the mantle and presents.
I never even heard about sitting around watching a log until the 2000s.
More cheesey stuff from Joisey.
Merry Christmas to the Garden State.
Addition of dogs and cats makes it extra nice.
I’m waiting for a big golden to show up.
Good ‘ole Channel 11...
Same here. Every Christmas Eve we would open presents with the Yule Log in the background

Yule was originally a pagan celebration to Oden and Thor...
Lol... well played.
Someone had left the WPIX Yule log going on the TV. We sat down to watch a while. After a few minutes I said, "This isn't right." I got up and moved the TV into the empty fireplace. John said, "Much better."
A few minutes later the XO walked by, looked at the TV in the fireplace and muttered, "I don't want to know about it," before heading upstairs.
"Ceterum censeo Islam esse delendam."

Great story.
I grew up in Western/Southern Tier of NY and our TV system would carry WPIX and WWOR so NYC news was like local to us. I do remember mom tuning into the WPIX Yule Log year in and year out. Special memories.
