That was his first big hit. I lived in San Antonio at the time, saw him live, and had his first two albums on vinyl. “Guitar Town” and “Exit Zero”; I had “Copperhead Road on cassette tape, used to play it after midnight at the all-night law office where I picked up some extra dough after the all-day insurance company. I got a pretty good price for them in Norman, Oklahoma in 1997, but they’re probably worth an arm and a leg now.

“My Old Friend the Blues” is one of his enduring hits, and his Christmas song, “Nothing But a Child,” is very sweet. One of my teenaged daughters sang it last Christmas; I did backup.

Thanks. Gave both a listen. Not bad. I liked the first better than the second. Strange, a communist singing about Jesus. :)
