So I'm listening to Rush and they're talking about rumors that Trump wants to quit using the "drain the swamp" promise
And it sounds like some thinking this is a red flag breaking a campaign promise
But I think it's not what they're talking about is just getting rid of a slogan
Reason I say that and I want to know what other people's experiences are at the Trump rallies before me
I was at Trump's last rally in Phoenix before the election..
and anyone that goes to Trump rally knows that he does Vamp Off the scrip... in other words he just starts talking to you about different things
Oddly the "drain the swamp" slogan came up at that time
Trump start talking about how the campaign came up with that slogan how his people came to him with it and they tested it and how he described he really hated the "drain the swamp" slogan
Trump went on and said he says yes I want to get rid of all these corrupt people in Washington he said but he really didn't like this "drain the swamp" slogan to describe it ...but he tried it inter Alia and people seem to like so they kept using it
So this is all stuff he was discussing the rally
he wants to be wants to do with the slogan implies he just never liked the slogan and it sounds like now he's saying yeah I really don't like this slogan and I want to use something different
So when people are getting all concerned he's backing off a campaign promise, really from the rally, it sounds like he just doesn't like a slogan he still intended to do exactly what the implied which is get rid of the corrupt people in DC
Let's face it certain things in campaigns are marketing slogans Trump some marketing guy never particularly liked the slogan but he still wants to sell you the give you the product which is get rid of the crap people in DC
I'm curious if anybody else that went to these Trump rallies ever had had him discuss different things like this and even mention he didn't like the "drain the swamp" slogan for some reason
I do NOT remember RUSH LIMBAUGH taking any side in the
election. He does do pro and con discussion on lots of
matters.
I ENJOY the RUSH LIMBAUGH SHOW and will listen to him often.
(I haven’t missed that there have been numerous efforts to
destroy him on FR, especially from Hillary minions.)
I think he didn’t like “Drain the Swamp” because it was too ordinary. It didn’t have a funny or special zing to it. It was just easy to get the crowd going.
I think “Lock Her Up” happened by accident. I seem to remember Trump being surprised but unable to control its use. It was such a big favorite of the crowd. It had that zing. I think having this slogan was a bit of a burden to Trump.
Ugh. I just read my post to you. “liberal’s” should be “liberals.” Stupid auto-correct!!! And stupid me for not editing.
I was at his last rally in Mobile.AL. He described it the same as he had before - he was originally leery of using the term because it seemed a bit inane sounding, but he was persuaded to try it and the response he got from his fans was good. So he tried it again and with more “bravado” and got even better response. he decided he was wrong and it was a solid statement for his followers and which also gave notice to the swamp dwellers.
The Swamp suffered enough.
I never considered Rush smart.
He either didn't really listen to, or understand the points made by his callers. Now that he's deaf, it's even worse.
I have stopped screaming at him. Now I just shut off the radio.
The radio is getting less use now, because Cheetos face is still on before Rush.
I’ve been reading Don Surber’s book on Trump and the press (yes, yes, I’ll read yours when it comes out!) and find it absolutely fascinating. Trump is completely misunderstood by the commentariat, as we here on FR have seen, but Surber really describes it clearly, and with considerable humor.
I had resolved that I would not click on Hugh Hewitt’s site ever again, but I somehow got tempted to go over there to have a nice gloat at his expense. However, I read one interview transcript (with Corker) that had a nice insight. As a developer, Trump is extremely goal oriented and he uses critical path methods to get there. Remove obstacles and bear down on the target. Don’t get sidetracked. Reading Surber confirms this.
Trump’s goal is to fundamentally transform Washington D.C. and the whole fed dysfunction (drain the swamp), but if using the slogan gets in the way he will put it aside.
Every last one of his nominations so far seems to be geared toward his already stated goals.
I attended a Trump rally in late October in Hershey, PA, and Trump specifically said on stage “I don’t really like” the phrase, but acknowledged that the crowd does and understands the basic sentiment behind it.
I read a critical bio of him-—I cite it but can’t find it now-—that stopped just before the primaries, and this guy tried his best to cast a bad light on everything, including Trump’s fortune.
He ended up confirming that Trump made money on every deal-—claiming he didn’t make as much as Trump said, but this is a matter of interpretation (gross vs net). Anyway, he kind of grudgingly confirmed that Trump succeeds at everything he tries.
I think Rush is getting a bad rap from some freepers on this thread.
I Love Rush and read the summary of his daily radio show.
He is/was a supporter of Trump after he won the primary.
During the primary he took the side of the most conservative candidate.
Newt has hinted that Trump is trying to avoid the old saying “When you’re up to your ass in alligators, it’s difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp.”
I listen to Dennis Michael Lynch now rather than Rush and Mark Levin. DML does a walk and talk live webcast daily that I just found recently. https://www.youtube.com/user/rightsideradio
I also watch Mike Closer’s Periscope live broadcasts almost daily https://twitter.com/thebestcloser he also does some radio show I haven’t listened to yet.
Lots of good new media out there!
NO he did not.. That is the point.
Work = apply existing laws
Something = illegals
Out = Deport them all.
Rush openly endorsing Cruz was a big story, I’m surprised you missed it.

Drain the swamp became a staple of the final month of Trumps campaign, with crowds chanting it as loudly as they had been shouting build the wall and lock her up. The slogan also appeared on T-shirts and signs.
It has remained part of Trumps post-election thank you tour. Whether in Ohio or Florida, the crowd continued to shout along with the president-elect as he vowed to curtail corruption in Washington even as he revealed that he wasnt always crazy about the catchphrase.
I tell everyone, I hated it, Trump said at a rally this month in Des Moines, Iowa. Somebody said drain the swamp and I said, Oh, that is so hokey. That is so terrible.
Trump went on to say he kept repeating the phrase when he realized how popular it was.
No he did not. Show some proof or quit leveling accusations.
