LOL!
Classic.
Long ago, a good friend of mine had Mr. Brooks on board his USAF T-39 flying into Diego Garcia for a USO appearance. Imagine the surprise when the “drunk pilot” checked in on the radio with ATC when they got within range of Diego’s — they continued the charade until close to the landing.
He was so good I’ve always wondered if he wasn’t actually a little drunk and not acting? Have heard Dean was not adverse to tipping a few when doing a show.
Right, saw the picture.
Leonard Barr was his comedic uncle.
This is for y’all to continue smiling;)

This is for all the germ conscious folks that worry about using cold water to clean.
John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of Saskatchewan ..
After spending a great evening chatting the night away, the next morning John’s grandfather prepared breakfast
of bacon, eggs and toast.
However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather asking, ‘Are these plates
clean?’
His grandfather replied, ‘They’re as clean as cold water can get em. Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!’
For lunch the old man made hamburgers. Again, John was concerned about the plates,as his appeared to have tiny
specks around the edge that looked like dried egg and asked, ‘Are you sure these plates are clean?’ Without looking up the old man said, ‘I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don’t you fret, I don’t want to hear another word about it!’
Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby town and as he was leaving, his grandfather’s dog started
to growl, and wouldn’t let him pass. John yelled and said, ‘Grandfather, your dog won’t let me get to my car’.
Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching on TV, the old man shouted! ‘Coldwater, go lay
down now, yah hear me!’
In reality, Foster Brooks never drank. Not on stage, and not in his personal life. The fact that people question whether or not he's really drunk on stage tells you just how good he was. Also, many people don't realize this, but he had a beautiful singing voice.
There really has not been a worthy successor to Brooks for this genre.
Perhaps Cheech and Chong.
Thanks for the memories, Foster Brooks.
On the other hand, drunk driving was considered acceptable then.
very funny skit- Tim conway was another quite funny fella- (There were tons of great comedians, but He was durn funny)- and what a voice Dean had for singin-
[[Where has the humor gone?]]
‘Comedians’ today aren’t smart enough to think up great clean funny jokes- they have to rely on cheap theater tricks like using anatomy, sexual crap and foul language to ‘engage an audience’ now- Funny part is that they don’t have nearly the following that the great comedians had- I can’t remember now which old time comedian said it but they slammed the upcoming ‘comedians’ who were using foul language as lacking talent and having to rely on cheap tricks to get laughs—
Thanks for posting, s.
w & s ping....
Once in a while I’ll hear some other pilot criticize something I did (correctly on my part) and I’d respond with “Oh? You’re A Pilot Too?” - one captain I flew with had several recordings of Arnold Schwarzenegger on his iPhone from some movies and he’d hit the appropriate one back as well.
