Link Wray belongs in the hall.

Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Pete Townsend, Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Jerry Garcia, and others in the hall could easily make the case. They all idolized the man. Pete says it was Link who’s music convinced him to pick up the guitar.

Bruce Springsteen wrote “Fire” for him.

The late rapper Tupac Shakur

Unlike many here, I appreciate rap and have several of Tupac's albums. I don't consider him the greatest rapper who ever lived as many rap fans do (that honor goes to Rakim), but he was very good.

But he didn't do rock music. Why is he being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

The “Hall” may have cool memorabilia but Hard Rock Indian Casino Burgers has cooler stuff (like Hendrix’s Purple Haze vest) because that chain was acquiring items long before the others.

Tupac Shakur did not do rock.

Where is the Can't Write A Decent Rhyme hall of fame?

I’m spinning ‘Fragile’ on my turntable as I type this, just waiting for “Heart of the Sunrise” to begin. Congratulations to Yes - they’d deserve induction if they’d never done anything besides ‘Fragile’. And congrats to Pearl Jam - my least favorite of the Seattle grunge bands, but still a good band.

I nominate “Norton” Art Carney for the Hippity Hop Rapper Hall of Fame.

Here’s his 1954 recording of Night Before Christmas:

Amazing! I was just thinking, they put in Too-pack, but not Johnny Rivers?

Hall of Shame.

Tupac Shakur's godmother was Joanne Chesimard (aka "ASSATA"), a communist revolutionary/domestic terrorist. Tupac's stepfather (Joanne's brother) was involved in the 1982 or '83 triple murder Brinks truck robbery, where two police officers and one Brinks security guard were gunned down in cold blood.

The following description is from a pro-Communist website...

ASSATA (aka Joanne Chesimard)

Perhaps the most wanted woman in the history of the United States.

Assata Shakur/Joanne Chesimard, was questionably arrested and sentenced for killing a cop in the infamous 1973 New Jersey Turnpike shootup of a car carrying Shakur, and two other Black Panthers, one of whom was also killed. Assata received three bullets in the attack. Sentenced to Life, she escaped in 1979 from maximum security prison in NJ to eventually emerge in Cuba under Fidel Castro’s protection as a political exile. Assata’s [Joanne Chesimard] writings and presence in Cuba have brought her a huge following as an icon, a heroine – the Che Guevera of Black Liberation – a freedom fighter to thousands of young peoples throughout the world. The State of New Jersey still holds a million dollar bounty on her head–wanted dead or alive!

Rapper 'Ludacris'

Lyrics to Ludacris' Obama rap song, "Obama Is Here":

"Hey... I'm back on it

like I just signed my record deal, yeah the best is here

The Bentley Coupe paint is drippin wet, it got sex appeal

Never shoulda hated, you never shoulda doubted him

With a slot in the President's iPod, Obama shouted him

Said I handled my biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers

Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer

Better yet put me in office, make me a Vice President

Hillary hated on you so that bitch is irrelevant

Now Jesse talkin slick and apologizin for WHAT~?!

If you said it then you MEANT it how you want it, head or gut

And all you other politicians tryin to hate on my man

Watch us win majority vote in every STATE on my man

You cain't stop what's 'bout to happen, we 'bout to make history

The first black President it's destined and it's meant to be

The threats ain't fazin us, the nooses or the jokes

Get off your ass black people it's time to get out and vote

Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified

McCain don't belong in ANY chair unless he's paralyzed

Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped

Ball up all of his speeches and just throw 'em like candy wraps

Cause what you talkin I hear nothin even relevant

And you the worst of all 43 Presidents

Get out and vote, or the end'll be near

And the world is ready for change cause Obama is here

YEAHHH! Cause Obama is here

The world is ready for change cause Obama is here

Yeahhhh, cause Obama is here

Say world is ready for change cause Obama is here

Hey!

I mean Gil Scott Heron should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before Tupac. Heron had style and meat. Of course maybe he is already in...I never really pay attention to the RnRHOF

“Finally Yes get in.”

Exactly. That they haven’t been until now has only decreased the credibility of the RHOF.

Rap and Grunge, an insult to the ears. One of the blessings about going deaf, barely hear the crap at the gym.

Use to wear earplugs or deploy a FM channel jammer for peace.
