I want to say it was in late April but I traveled so much this year seeing grandkids and other family that I can’t hardly keep all the dates straight.

Great! Western Scrub-Jays are pretty common in the West. Just so you know, the powers-that-be recently split it into two species: The Interior West one is now called Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay, while the Pacific Western Scrub-Jay (found in California, Oregon, and Washington) is now called the California Scrub-Jay.
The Pine Nut Mts near Carson City, NV, seems to be the dividing line for the two new species.
Go figure.

We stayed in Joshua Tree with the Daughter and her family at a rental for a long weekend. Spent two great days in the Park before coming back to AZ through Twenty Nine Palms, Mojave area, Parker, Havasu and back to Surprise, AZ.
I will have to tell everyone, Joshua Tree is a great park to hike and explore with kids. Teenagers would probably give me heart failure from renegade rock climbing, but with the little ones the hikes are great and very interesting. The rocky terrain is great to climb and there is a lot of variety I had not expected.

Glad you enjoyed Joshua Tree. When my grandson was very little, he called Joshua Trees "Broccoli Trees." Haha!
He's 14 now and probably has forgotten about his Broccoli Trees. I'll have to remind him...

Stunning!
The hawk is my favorite. Looks like he won’t miss a meal. :)
This is a wonderful way to honor Swampsniper.
Thanks for these threads and pings.

It was sunny and warm in Florida today. High was 86.>
It was sunny and cold here in S.E. Mich
10 degrees high, that's really a bitch.
All the smart birds have left for much warmer climes
While dummies like us are left behind......
If anything's positive about this awful cold,
It's the white Christmas we'll have with the lights all aglow........
Having grown up in Michigan and suffered the snows,
The best way to spend Christmas is shoveling snow
Merry Christmas
