Interesting story. Sounds like your family is quite the explorers.
I lived for 13 years in the Poconos where the white tail deer are plentiful. I never went hunting, but the guys who lived around me did.
But one night the first year we lived there, we heard a terrific rumble and screaching of brakes out front around 9 PM. Went outside to find a deer with very large antlers had been hit by a car and broke its leg.
He tried to move around, but he couldn’t. So he settled himself down on the edge of our yard and the whole neigborhood came by to watch with spotlights and the works.
Realizing his days were numbered, the police came along and shot the beautiful white-tail. The guy across the street took the deer, gutted it, and then had it packaged for venison.
Never saw a more handsome deer my whole time living there.
From what I have seen, the PA WTs are much larger than they are here in Connecticut.
