Sickos. And the media loves creating stories like this, especially by white parents

I am glad I met my kids, I enjoyed their childhoods, but their teenaged years didn’t make it worth it.

I went off the rails at about age 16 and would remain a profound disappointment to my parents for the next 20 years. The ages 17-21 were particularly difficult and I'm sure if one had asked my parents this question then, they would have both answered that they wish they had only one child, my brother.

I'm only glad that they were able to live long enough to see me pull it back together; lay off the booze, find meaningful employment, a loving wife and raise a family of my own. Before he passed, my dad did smile and tell me that he hopes my boys put me through what I put him through because I'll deserve it.

I was never actually in the Watergate, but I read an article about it when I was in college, and I thought that was where a single lady with cats should live!

I don’t exactly miss being young - who wants to be that stupid again? - but I kind of miss being not-old!

I have a friend who lived in it during its hay day - the 70s. He had a pool as well. He was a writer for the Washington Star at the time. I remember visiting the place during the hearings and seeing all kinds of politicians coming and going near the outdoor bar. My parents and I were agog! I was there about two years ago and it didn’t look as spiffy as I remember it.

Wow , some of the quotes are painful to read. You know, if you want to have an abortion, OK. At the end of the day, that’s on your conscience, not mine. But if you choose not to for whatever reason, “pressured” or not, please DO NOT tell the world that you wish you had in retrospect. Tht just makes you a scumbag.

That reminds me of the time my husband and I went to the National Conservatory to see an exhibit of poinsettias. (We were visiting my parents in Arlington). The conservatory was being set up for a Senate event, and there were cases and cases of booze being unpacked!

I noticed a lot of the quotes were about regretting having sons and not daughters.

I guess they have bought into the farce all men are rapist and misogynistic and fear there boys will be what they fear...

My wife and I (hint) had six children and never even for a second regretted it...

Sure we got frustrated over the cost and amount of work, but we knew every one of them were a gift from God....

The screen name was picked when we were in the adoption process, not that I need to explain.

I grew up in foster care, my half siblings are scattered all over the country and I know them via Facebook.

Life has been complicated for a lot of reasons.

I love my children. They are good, successful right voting people.

My reasoning is my own, I responded simply to say not everyone is over the moon about parenthood.

Because they keep leaving lights on all over the house. Who turned up the thermostat? And close that refrigerator door.

Unless they are all failures you will be glad you had them when it’s time to be sent to the nursing home. Childless people get the worst treatment because the lazy nurses know they can get away with it.

Amen to that. I just told a friend, who just became a new grandmother, that if she thought she couldn’t love anyone more than her kids she’s in for a big surprise. Grandkids are one of life’s biggest joys.

As an aside, people who don't have children should have their Social Security benefits reduced. Social Security (genuflect here) is supposed to be an "intergenerational compact." Paying your Social Security taxes over the course of your working life is not the entire deal. That's just to pay off your grandparents' and parents' generations. Raising the next generation to pay your own benefits is the second, and much more expensive proposition. Those who remain childless have defaulted and should have their benefits reduced.

In fact, we should be even more discriminating. To get your full benefits, your children must be gainfully employed and law-abiding. Welfare breeders who produce more welfare breeders shouldn't qualify either. As we drift towards a 2-1 taxpayer/beneficiary ratio, Social Security is very nearly an "adopt a parent" program as it is. Why not just adopt our own parents -- we'd at least get free babysitting -- and let the childless Pajama Boy types fund their own retirements, as they have no right to expect my kids to pay for their fecklessness.

In the Bible, after the fall in the garden and man became super evil, God expressed sorrow that He created His children. Lucky for us, He gave us another chance with the flood. But here we are again, unfortunately.
