As an aside, people who don't have children should have their Social Security benefits reduced. Social Security (genuflect here) is supposed to be an "intergenerational compact." Paying your Social Security taxes over the course of your working life is not the entire deal. That's just to pay off your grandparents' and parents' generations. Raising the next generation to pay your own benefits is the second, and much more expensive proposition. Those who remain childless have defaulted and should have their benefits reduced.

In fact, we should be even more discriminating. To get your full benefits, your children must be gainfully employed and law-abiding. Welfare breeders who produce more welfare breeders shouldn't qualify either. As we drift towards a 2-1 taxpayer/beneficiary ratio, Social Security is very nearly an "adopt a parent" program as it is. Why not just adopt our own parents -- we'd at least get free babysitting -- and let the childless Pajama Boy types fund their own retirements, as they have no right to expect my kids to pay for their fecklessness.

No, they just shouldn’t have to pay into SS. And if they have, they should be given a rebate!
